Learning how it is controlled for flood and power. We were here in the Fall. The lake is almost drained so that they can control flood waters in the Spring. It has to be tough on boating and fishing.

This is a gorgeous lake in East TN that is very expansive and has deep water and has incredible views of the mountains. The lake has great coves for enjoying the day on the water and several islands on the lake. The water is great and lots of water activities and marinas on the water. There are several launch ramps and entry points to access the water to launch a boat. There are a few marinas that rent boats and watercraft from all different sizes. The lake has a few yachts on the water but mostly small to medium watercraft. Due to the expansive size of the lake, you never feel crowded by other boaters. The only negative to the lake is the traditional draw down of the water in the fall and winter that makes the lake very ugly during the fall and winter months. I do not understand why TVA must draw down the water that low in those months. The lake at full pool is around 990ft and winter months is 952ft which is a significant drop in water levels and takes the beauty of the lake away. I think 970ft would provide enough expansion for major rainfalls with managing downstream impact of any major storms to capture water and hold to prevent flooding. IMO... Otherwise is a great lake and lots of fun and beauty.

We didn't camp or fish here but we took part of a day to drive around the lake and take in all its beauty. We drove around the whole lake and it was beautiful.

We Rented a Cabin by Douglas Lake the second week of August. The temperature was around 75-80 degrees. The water was cool, but not cold. The views are spectacular, especially at sunrise. The lake is great for kayaking, boating, jet-skiing, fishing, etc. Or you can simply relax and enjoy nature.

We were in the Sevierville side (not Dandridge), which is closer to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, both of which have lots of entertainment options.

We were introduced to this great place out in the "sticks" by my brother. Kids had a blast swimming. We had fun watching people learn to kiyak. They have a beautiful place to grill burgers and such with a huge space with lots of shade. They also have a campground for camping with electricity. And in the height of the season it only cost about $20.00 a night to camp. Awesome place for family fun. It is free for day use.
