“Ate here twice”
Reviewed 20 March 2014

Ate here for very late lunch around 3pm one day while staying in Jackson. Large selection of country style food, but must have been sitting a while. Wasn't very fresh. Salad bar is large and very good. The next day on our way out of town my husband wanted to give it another try. We went at 11:00, and it was very good. Fresh cracklin cornbread hot off the griddle, need I say more? The country store is an added bonus, a little bit of everything to see in there!

“The Epitome Of Mediocrity”
Reviewed 10 March 2014

The Old Country Store buffet restaurant in Jackson, TN is simply the epitome of mediocrity. The breakfast buffet offers poorly prepared mass produced food that is bland, dry, and most unappetizing. One might argue that any food that sits in a warming pan more than thirty minutes to an hour is going to dry out. However, on my first and last visit to the OCS I was arrived when the restaurant opened and the food that was offered on the buffet was already quite stale. It appears that there is more than the store that is old at the Old Country Store. The food is also showing its age.

“Something for everyone in the family!”
Reviewed 4 March 2014

My extended family decided to forego cooking a second Christmas dinner, so we opted to go for the wonderful buffet at the Old Country Store on the weekend AFTER Dec 25. The food was wonderful, as always. The salad bar is the BEST in town. My husband is on a heart healthy diet, but he could find plenty from which to choose as well. We all went for the blackberry cobbler or banana pudding for dessert. This is one of the few places in town that can actually fill up my two "growing" nephews, ages 16 and 21. We will do this again.
Then we went to Mom's to exchange gifts with no dishes to wash!
I am hoping my class reunion will also opt to celebrate our 40th this summer with an evening at Providence House which is able for private parties on site, too.

“Still really good after many years”
Reviewed 25 February 2014

As this is a long time staple of Jackson, TN, it is still a really good "go to" for home cooked southern food. The atmosphere also has an un-paralled nostalgia in both the dining area, surrounding grounds, and the gift shop. In the gift shop area you will find curious souveniers, an ice cream parlor, candy confections, and a stage area for live performances among many things. All of this said, biggest bit of advice is to get to the buffet while it is still fresh. For some reason, even though food is still very good, on the last few visits, I have noticed that it dries out quickly. Last note is southern hospitality and buffet selection is beyond compare.

“Always a Favorite”
Reviewed 8 February 2014

If you love Southern country cooking, you must come to the buffet at the Old Country Store. It is one of my favorites of all times. There are always delicious country foods--greens, black-eyed peas, chicken livers, cabbage, etc. It is reasonably priced, and the store is fun also. There are lots of nostalgic candy and gifts. It is worth the stop if you are headed to Nashville.
