“Fun place to be!”
Reviewed 16 April 2014

Located in Casey Jones Village, the Old Country Store is great place to eat...great place for any meal! Breakfast offers anything you could want from bacon and country ham, biscuits and, of course, a bowl of grits!!!! Lunch time for a great salad bar or the buffet...real Southern cooking and plenty of cracklings cornbread! Go hungry for dinner for more good Southern cooking or order from the menu....you will enjoy whatever you choose. Not only will you find good food, there are so many things to just look at as well as gifts for everyone back home! Many great items to choose from at reasonable prices and such a variety! You will want to come back often! I recently took friends from out of town to lunch here .. Everyone enjoyed!

“Unmatched Southern Cooking”
Reviewed 15 April 2014

I'm a Yankee that is on the road 250 nights a year and I know good food. This is down home just the way you hope it would be. Greens, catfish, chicken and every vegetable you can imagine hot and cold. Great salad and dessert bar in a setting that Cracker Barrel stole to go national. DO NOT MISS THIS PLACE tucked behind Casey Jones RR station in Jackson!!

“Good variety of food on the buffet but nothing outstanding.”
Reviewed 15 April 2014 via mobile

The entrees are better than the veggies. The cobblers always seem to be over cooked and dry. My favorite is the crackling cornbread. Very nice atmosphere & good service. Having a separate door and line for takeout orders is convenient.

“Great Buffet”
Reviewed 31 March 2014

We have stopped at the Country Store for years to but items at the retail end, but we have never eaten a meal there before. What a treat.

The buffet was excellent. A good buffet almost always has a good salad bar and this one does. We could have been content with just soup and salad, but this buffet has more. There is also a cold food bar with what looked to be a good selection of fruit, but another characteristic of a good buffet is that it will have more food than you can eat the first time so that you leave wanting more. There is a griddle in the middle of the buffet where they cook fresh johnnie cakes (corn bread in cake form). There were also 2 good soups where the cooked johnnie cakes were located.

The buffet has almost anything home-style cooking that would work well on a buffet. My favorite entrée was the fried chicken, which had a good poultry seasoning flavor. There was an abundance of sides, including dressing, mashed potatoes, green beans, black eyed peas and sweet corn. My wife's favorite was the chicken and dumplings and the banana pudding. Neither of us liked the cobblers.

We will return the next time we go through Jackson,

“Ate here twice”
Reviewed 20 March 2014

Ate here for very late lunch around 3pm one day while staying in Jackson. Large selection of country style food, but must have been sitting a while. Wasn't very fresh. Salad bar is large and very good. The next day on our way out of town my husband wanted to give it another try. We went at 11:00, and it was very good. Fresh cracklin cornbread hot off the griddle, need I say more? The country store is an added bonus, a little bit of everything to see in there!
