“2nd time back!”

This was my second visit at the Lodge.....I stayed there again during the World's Longest Yard Sale. I found the owners, Claudia and Jim, to be very accommodating. I read a rather negative review about the "instructions" taped all over the room....yes, they are there. But I look at it this way - these people have worked hard to earn a living by keeping this place going, and obviously there have been folks who have been destructive. If I'm going to do no harm, I am not going to worry about some simple, common-sense instructions....in fact, I have to chuckle when I see them, because I look at them as owners protecting what they've worked hard for. If you have kids who have to be entertained with a pool, TV, video games, etc, then you might want to move on....but if you want a nice place to shower with a good, clean bed to rest after all day of shopping at yard sales, this is a good, quiet place to rest. Have not had the pleasure of eating in the grill, but I know when I checked out the next morning, things were smelling mighty tempting over there!!! It's a little out of the way from the 127 Sale, but a beautiful country drive, and less costly than any of the motels on the "route." Will DEFINITELY go back....

We recently stayed during the Worlds Longest Yard Sale. Its off the 127 Highway but for the price it was worth the drive. Most hotels hike up the prices during this weekend by $200 or more. This was under $80. We didn't have TV, but were offered free DVD. We were tired so didn't need more than a hot shower and a clean bed. We left early in the morning before they opened for breakfast so cant review the food. Would stay here again if in the area.

When we made our camping reservation, we weren't told the camping site was inaccessible due to poor road conditions. Ended up putting down our tents at the back of the "lodge" (antonym, if I've ever seen one) with one of the rooms offered for use as our bathroom. This same room and bathroom was offered to several other people who were just traveling through and needed some place to change. No offer to refund our money when we arrived and were told the campground was inaccessible. The area is beautiful; this place is deplorable.

This place is great, but if you're expecting 5 star accomodations this is not the place for you. THIS IS A HORSE CAMP. The room was very clean, but a little musty from being closed up. That was quickly remedied by opening the window. The beds were comfortable. The furniture was clean. The bathroom was spotless! The property is run by a husband and wife and their dog, Hooch. They work hard to maintain it. They were helpful in recommending trails and places to visit. We stayed two nights and had breakfast at the restaurant inside the store both times. The omelets were outstanding! Hooch was awesome too.

I'll expand on the "Amityville" review. Yes there are notes posted around the room with detailed instructions on how to use the television, what to do if the toilet sticks, etc. This place is close to the middle of nowhere so cell service was spotty and tv reception is poor. Wifi was available at the store/restaurant. The store also has DVDs and VHS tapes you can borrow for a small deposit that you'll get back when you return the item. The "opinion" sign was one of many humorous signs posted throughout the store. There was also one that says "Jesus loves you".

For $60/night and such close proximity to the park, we'll definitely stay here again!

Room Tip: There are 4 rooms on the main parking lot level and 3 rooms that are on the lower level in the back.

From the minute we arrived the owners were very rude. When we got to our room, there were notes all over the place saying everything not to do and not to touch. Tv got 3 channels and those just barely. No cell service, no internet and no phone. We arrived @ 7:40 and needed dinner and were not even told we could just go about 10 miles down the street to find a Mcdonalds. As we were leaving there was a sign that summed it all up-- if u have an opinion it doesn't matter because we don't care.

We only stayed 1 night as we travelled north to Ky, but were pleasantly surprised with the large comfortable room. It was at a very reasonable price, $49.00 at this writing. The owners were very friendly and made us feel like we were at home.
