So you wanna listen to some AMAZING music, drink some beer, and have a bite. You can't do better than The Down Home. Look... it's nothing fancy. But that's what makes it great. It's an intimate venue, with great sight lines and wonderful acoustics. They only serve beer, but have a decent selection, including some local brews. The menu is squarely "bar food"... nachos, quesadillas and the like, but it's prepared hot and fresh. But really, you come here for the music. Owner Ed Snodderly (a legend himself) books some of the best local and regional talent. Heavy on bluegrass, but plenty of alt-country and singer-songwriters in the mix. Like Station Inn and the Blue Bird Cafe in Nashville, this is a place to showcase musicians. At the shows I've been to, the audiences have been very respectful, keeping talking to a minimum. So come to The Down Home, have a beer and nachos, and get your socks knocked off by some stellar music.
