Econo Lodge Inn And Suites East

I have stayed here often on business. The rates are very reasonable, about $60.00 normally, although like many hotels in the area weekend UT football games can cause a spike in the rates. The rooms are clean and reasonably comfortable. The beds are not what you would expect to find in a high end hotel, but they are comfortable enough. Through the week they offer a supper meal. It is not real varied, but it is usually good, filling, and cheap (free), great for someone on a tight budget. Same thing with breakfast, not expansive, but filling. The real class comes with the front desk. Everyone I have had the pleasure of dealing with has been friendly and efficient. I like staying here for the friendly welcome I get every time I walk in.

Arrived about 6:30 p.m. Was able to check in fairly easy. The lady at the desk was really busy. We had a room on the end, so it was pretty quiet. This is a standard overnight stay hotel. Lots of truck traffic in and out. The room was very clean. They provide their brand of soap, shampoo and conditioner. The shower was nice and hot. There is Mcdonalds just next door and a convenient mart/gas station. The TV was an old model and pretty small. The Wi Fi was free and easy to connect to. All in all, a very good place to crash. Comfortable and clean and in a pretty safe area.

Room Tip: I would stay on the top floor as people were checking in late at night. There are only 2 floors.

At three am anything can pass for fine. When awake and coherent its all a different game. OMG, it was gross. Toe nail clippings, food, dead bugs, hair and dirt/dust all along the bed frames, walls furniture, etc. The trash behind the night stand told the story. Had I looked at the room first, I NEVER would have stayed there. Pillows were ok, I am telling myself the sheets were changed,,but not so sure. Shower was spotless, but damn,,,the carpet was horrible, dirty, filthy. Price was way too much for the filth. Slept for 4 hours, after seeing the filth I dressed and left. Wanted nothing to do with the breakfast or anything else. Stay away from room 109.

Room Tip: Room 109 is nasty

We travel across country frequently to visit family. In the past, stays in this area of Tennessee have been $100 and up a night. This hotel was a bargain at $60 for the night. It's not as nice as the Hampton Inn where we normally stay, but it was very adequate. The room was exceptionally clean. I would have given it 5 stars in consideration of the price, but the carpet was very stained.

We got sent over to the Econo Lodge from the Quality Inn across the road because the Quality was "booked solid" despite a completely empty parking lot.

On the outside, Econo Lodge is very pretty. Our room was adequate with two very hard king sized beds. There were huge water stains in the carpet eminating from the bathroom, the toilet had water around it, water stains on the ceiling, mildew and rust on the ceiling in the bathroom. Yet the bathtub was a killer deep new tub, very alluring. The shower head was for crap. The ice machine was out when we arrived, the fridge in our room did not work the first night. The breakfast bar had run out of food because the truck that made their deliveries was a no show that day. Our door was very particular about accepting our key cards (meaning it usually didn't).

The staff gets top stars, though. Just about everyone working there looked like they were under 30, were all extremely helpful and friendly, as well as apologetic for all the problems. One of the times our door wouldn't work, one of the staff was walking up towards us and helped us in our room. It was amazingly quiet, considering how busy the exit off I-40 was. Every business can have a bad day.

They offer a nightly dinner, something I've never heard of before. Everyone has a breakfast bar these days, but dinner? Okay, so chili or hot dogs isn't haute cuisine, but hey, it was fun and a nice touch.

Positives: We had a non-smoking room with 2 queen beds for 2 nights on March 14 and 15, 2013. It looked like the outside of the hotel had just recently been painted. Very nice and clean exterior. The walls and ceiling in our room looked very nice and clean. The tub enclosure and sink area were in great shape. The room was extremely clean. This included the bathroom area. The room included a coffee pot, refrigerator, TV, microwave, iron and hair dryer. We only used the hair dryer which worked just fine. The price was very reasonable for this room. The 2 employees that we interacted with were very pleasant and professional.
Neutrals: The beds were just so-so as far as comfort. Not the worst, but not too great either.
Negatives: The carpet looked pretty new along the edges of the walls, but was very badly stained. I am guessing this was because the hotel accepts pets. The stains looked like problems that has been cleaned but would not come out completely. Both of the teenagers who stayed with us in the room thought that the room was "dirty" and the entire hotel was "skanky" because of this one problem. The tub was not draining properly, but the management was glad to say they would fix the problem, unfortunetly it was not happening untill after we left.
I would stay here again (but I think I would get a hassle from the 2 teens).
