“Fun at the zoo”

Enjoyed our trip to the zoo. It's fairly large and the exhibits are spread out but there is something for everyone. The Red Panda rocks!

“Must see in Knoxville”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 August 2014

Being animal lovers my boyfriend and I had to check out the Knoxville zoo when we were down in the area for a wedding. We loved it!

We felt the admission price of $20 per person (plus $5 entry fee) was a little high, but still worth it. We live near the National Zoo in DC and have visited there, but were more impressed with the Knoxville zoo.

There's a cute trolley that takes you from the parking area to the zoo entrance, and the trolley driver was very friendly and you could tell he enjoys his job. Had we realized there was a shortcut path from the parking lot to the zoo that was uphill, we would have taken that instead but it was still a nice start to our visit.

We saw many interesting animals and my boyfriend especially enjoyed the reptile area. The mini water park spray zone for kids was cute too! We really loved that he got to feed a giraffe! That was so cool! We liked how you could get up close to the animals. Despite the summer heat a few of the animals were active while we were there which was really neat: one of the monkeys was playing, two red wolves were dashing around and the sea otters were playing with the kids through the glass. It took us about 3 hours to walk through the whole thing unrushed, including taking in a bird show which was neat. Perfect amount to see/do for an afternoon out. We also brought in our lunch and ate in the kids play area as it was vacant at the time but it was very cute!

“I thought I saw King Kong!”

I was surprised by the layout. It's compact yet there is much to see. Kid FRIENDLY. Even thought there were changes being made in some of the large animal exhibits, the visit was worthwhile! AND THAT GORILLA!!!! Gadzooks!

“Great Experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 August 2014

My family visited this zoo during a recent vacation. We are members of a reciprocal zoo and received free admission and parking. This zoo was fantastic! The bear encounter near the entrance to the zoo was phenomenal. This zoo had a very nice assortment of animals with easy viewing opportunities. It is amazing for a zoo in a city of this size to have so many elephants, giraffes, and rhinos. It is a must-see if you are in Knoxville.

“great resource for knoxville”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 August 2014

a little pricey for single day visit. But fantastic value for family pass. Very good zoo for city of this size. Clean, well organized, good variety of animals. Lots of other things to keep young kids busy (water splash pad, play areas, carousel, petting zoo, indoor play area etc)
