Description: Our Southern dishes & libations are served with a creative twist & a smile. When we play with our food (& we think it's okay), the result is scrumptious. We're rooted in the Mountain South, & our menu is inspired by time-honored traditions: pickling & frying, canning & preserving, & utilizing seasonal produce and ingredients to prepare delicious, scratch-made creations.

“Great food with excellent service”
Reviewed 11 May 2014 via mobile

Wife and I were in town for a concert at the Bijou staying near Market street. We had three meals : first lunch consisting of chicken sandwich and burger. Both very good. Then we had breakfast two times : had fried egg BLT omelet and the lump crab egg dish. All were very good. And the service was excellent...no problem recommending.

Thank Ron P

“Excellent food, great atmosphere, service could be better.”
Reviewed 10 May 2014 via mobile

First, do not miss this cafe. The food is excellent, the menu creative and interesting, and the atmosphere and location good. I wanted to go back for breakfast again the next day to try another item that looked great.
My only complaint is with the slowness and lack of attention of the waiter. Bringing coffee immediately is not difficult, nor is refilling the cups on occasion. One of the charming aspects of the cafe is that they bring you a plate of over-the-top good biscuits. That these took a little while to arrive would not have bothered us if the coffee had arrived expeditiously.

“Would have been 5 stars except service”
Reviewed 8 May 2014

Excellent creative menu items. Great atmosphere inside and out. Our hotel suggested and dropped us off right in front of the restaurant. Great place to cap off an evening of browsing nearby boutiques. My only slight complaint was the server. It was busy and we had to ask numerous times for refills, incomplete dinner items and the like. I had to ask for him to bring honey (their namesake) for our biscuits! We sat right next to the kitchen and our food sat quite awhile in the 'window' before another server brought it to us. T

“Yum-O breakfast!”
Reviewed 6 May 2014

Got there right when they opened and so thankful we did! It was opening day of the Knoxville Farmer's market and got so crowded! The sweet potato pancake was so scrumptious it didn't need syrup. And it is huge! Enough for two people, maybe even three to share. Coffee was divine. Server was attentive, but not annoyingly so. I would come back to this place in a heartbeat. Biscuits were just ok, why don't they serve them with butter? I'm no Paula Deen, but everything is better with butter, am I right???? :)

Sat outside in gorgeous weather. Enjoyed entrees and desert - meatloaf was very good and large portions so that my college student son had lunch out of it too! Great service.
