The visitors center hosts various concerts in the building. They are small intimate gatherings of folks in the area. It's a great way to learn more about the area and hear some great regional artists.

Since we are new to Knoxville, we stopped here to pick up some brochures and chat with the hostess. A jam session just got done so we missed the music. We will b e back.

This Visitors Center is way above the typical "welcome center" you may encounter on an interstate highway just after entering a state. At this Visitors Center, there are the typical brochures and stuff like that but there is also a lot more than that. On weekdays they have a live radio show. They also have staff on duty who actually know a lot about Knoxville and can answer almost any question you have have about activities, attractions and places of interest to visit. They have a pretty extensive gift shop area featuring not only clothes and mugs and stuff like that but also books on the history of Knoxville and they also have some nice photos of the City which is something I've never seen in a Visitor's Center. So, if you want to find out the best places to visit in Knoxville and/or want to get some mementos of your visit, this really is a must stop place. For those of you who are geocachers, there is even a geocache on the inside of the Center.

A typical visitors center, with lots of brochures and guides. The young woman "on duty" was nice and helpful, printing me a list of activities for the upcoming week.

Always a good idea to visit one of these places if you're in town. Very friendly people and a free map.
