I was in town for work, and this hotel was perfectly adequate and comfortable. My room and the lobby were clean and well-kept. The room featured a king-sized bed and a nice flat-screen tv. The free breakfast included scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, bacon, bagels, and a few other items. I didn't have any reason to interact much with the staff, but they were very friendly when I did speak with them.
The area of town this hotel is in is probably a lot like an area you have in your own city if it's big enough -- all strip malls and chain restaurants. Think of the popular mall in your area and imagine the development that springs up in the 1/2 mile or so surrounding the mall itself. That's about what this area is like. Anywhere USA.
It's all a matter of preference, obviously, but for me, if you're looking purely for something right off the highway or convenience to an event you're attending nearby, this is a great spot. If you're in town for a day or two to actually see Knoxville or the area, I'd stay downtown for an area with a little more personality and charm.
