“Great Customer Service”
Reviewed 15 November 2013

This is a very nice well maintained hotel that overlooks the river and is right next door to an old trading post/ fort type of museum you can walk to. This hotel excels in customer service. There is no microwave in the rooms but when I needed one, the staff had one delivered and hooked up in just 10 minutes or so.

This is a nice hotel even if a bit dated. Hotel rooms have nice big flat screens but there are two outlets available in the room. One outlet is in the bathroom and the other is at the desk so if you are traveling with a laptop you have to plug into the single outlet at the desk or double outlet in the bathroom. I would normally not make a big deal out of it but really marriott put a few outlets in a room. The lobby is spectacular. One issue is the signage. The pool is somewhere in the Lobby but I never found it. I wandered the lobby looking for the gym and asked someone in workout clothes and he said he was wandering the halls as well looking for it. I asked an employee and she said it was on the 11th floor. She noted people staying in the hotel come downstairs in the lobby looking for it every night. I laughed and walked away but it would seem that if it is a known problem how about a sign in the elevator noting what is on each floor. Fine hotel the check in Staff and room service delivery person are the top assets of this hotel.

Staff was very attentive. Bed and room were excellent. Extremely clean, I would stay here again anytime. In regards to the observation one traveler had about the pool, leaves are always a problem in the fall. I saw them clean the pool everyday only to have more leaves in the pool several hours later.
The only real negatives are that there is no fridge in the room and the bar. I ordered two different cocktails and they were both not very good. A waste of $20.00

From the outside, this concrete monstrosity is not pretty. The lobby is huge with an atrium some 10 stories high. The hotel, which used to be a Hyatt in a previous life, is now some forty years old and it shows, but the beds are comfortable, the rooms are clean and the location is not bad. We stayed for just one night and it was not luxurious but absolutely fine. There is a decent concierge lounge on the top floor with a nice view of the river, a small gym and a small outdoor pool. Parking is free and all the restaurants around the pretty Market Square in Knoxville are just a 5 minute drive or 10 minute walk away. The hotel could certainly do with an update but for a short stay it is fine.

1. You have to reserve a fridge and microwave even though it states mini kitchen
2. Elevators - were not functioning correctly had to use alternative elevators
3. Pool - was not clean , had floating bugs, leaves, and other things ..
4. Bathroom in hotel room was not clean, with shower curtail mold.
5. Shower was clooged up with human hair
6. Customer service was terrible , when at all, when complaining ver

6. Only good thing i can say is that the bed was decent and lobby was nice, but you don't selep in the lobby.

Just beware

We stayed at the Marriott for parents weekend at UT and of course the hotel was packed. When we were checking in the computers were down- people around us were being huffy and the front desk staff were trying their best to handle a difficult situation. We are easy going and just said we are fine and will just come back for our key- good choice- a bellman let us in our wonderful room on the 10th floor! We were given cookies with the school colors, and when we did get our key later in the evening we had a coupon for free breakfast buffet in the morning which was delicious. The room was awesome with a nice balcony, king bed awesome bathroom, and a delicious breakfast buffet in the morning. Thank you Knoxville Marriott!

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a higher level the view is spectacular!

My tennis team recently played matches in Knoxville, Tennessee. We chose to stay downtown and had a wonderful experience with hotel and staff. Everyone greeted us with a smile and was overboard with willingness to help in anyway they could, from housekeeping to sales to food and beverage. The facility was so very clean. The beds were as comfortable as any bed in a hotel I have ever been. The view of the river was just wonderful. Thanks for a very pleasant experience, even if our team lost to the locals.
