We had hoped to see the traditional dance show at the Mercado Nacional de Artesiania, but took one look at the prices of the meal on offer and legged it.
Disappointed, we were heading for the hotel when we saw the Mariskeria in Parque 17 de Octobre, a permanent kiosk, serving seafood.
We took the ceviche and the prawns..both were excellent..the prawns were the best I had eaten since being in Spain in the 1970s. We saw concha negra on the board, and the proprietor let us try one without charge..it wasn't an oyster, but it was pretty good all the same.
The bill was light, the service was friendly and we're going again on our next trip to the Masaya area.
