We just spent two nights at this top notch B&B in Virginia, Cavan while visiting relatives on the last leg of our Irish holiday. Patrick and Helena were superb welcoming us and making sure we enjoyed their magnificent B&B, which is really more like a an upscale boutique hotel. Their warmth and friendliness was great, we shared many stories and laughs as my husbands dad was from Virginia and they knew many of his relatives. What can we say, it was the highlight of our trip. The room was spacious, great comfortable bed, grand bathroom and LARGE flat screen TV to make any American happy! Thanks again For your hospitality! Come visit us in New York.

Last year whilst passing through Virginia we called into St Kyrans for a coffee on the basis of a recommendation. Although they were just starting their Sunday lunch they could not have been more welcoming and looked after us so well I really wanted to go back and stay . Lucky woman that I am my husband organised to bring me for the weekend of my birthday on 15 th June.
Once again we were given a very warm welcome on arrival and shown to our lovely spacious room overlooking the lake. All comforts were looked after fluffy towels ,nice toiletries , a bath in the ensuite , power shower, candles! Tea and coffee facilities in the room a fine TV and DVD player with a big selection of DVDs and books available to use if you needed them.
What made it stand out as a place to recommend were a number of things the dining room overlooks the lake and has beautiful big windows offering all diners a beautiful view there is an area outside to sit down if you wish and a lovely seat down at the lakeside if you are looking for a quiet moment.
Breakfast is very good lots of choice of cereals fresh fruit and quality yogurt. Delicious home made brown bread locally made jams Freshly made porridge which my husband enjoyed accompanied by honey and cream on the side. A freshly cooked breakfast to order all made for a most enjoyable start to the day. I forgot to mention it was so quiet and the beds were so comfortable that despite he fact that we said we would be down for breakfast at 10 am we didn't wake up until 10.10 the first morning and when we arrived to the dining room 15 mins later a little thrown together knowing breakfast finished at 10.30 we received the same warm welcome and were encouraged to take our time.
We ate dinner there on the Saturday night it was delicious excellent produce cooked to a very high quality and presented beautifully with wonderful service and lots of help with choices both food and wine plus the great view of the lake again. After dinner when we said we were going to walk down to the seat by the lake I was offered a shawl if I wished as it had gotten a little cooler. Another lovely gesture.
The owners Patrick and Helena work very hard here at making your stay a special one. All their staff are a credit to them and have obviously been trained to ensure this is the case.
Patrick gave us lots of suggestions of things to do locally and drew us great maps.
I am already looking forward to a return visit it's only an hour from Dublin which makes it a very attractive option for a night or weekend away.

Luxurious rooms, country setting, 5 star food, beautiful view from the dining room over a lake, great hospitality. There really was nothing that could be improved. This was a great wedding anniversary choice.
