“Best Campsite of our trip”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 June 2013

Just back from a trip to exploring the Burren with my mother. We received a very warm welcome at Corofin hostel, I camped on site and my mum opted for a bed in the hostel. We both had a great experience here and I certainly will be back.
The hostel owner was lovely and gave us lots of tips to help us on our way about:
There is a free bus that runs from the village to several locations around the Burren, which we made use of - and excellent service paid for by the NPWS (I think) and Inchiquin lake is within walking distance from the village (20 min walk).

Gorgeous site and the hostel is fully equipped and right in the heart of the village. Hard to beat I would think!

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such nice things about us. The traditional music and dance sessions are starting next week for the summer. Just one of the many inexpensive nights out in the village for the whole family.

We stayed here in our small campervan in August. The owner was very friendly and helped us find a suitable place to park where we could pitch our awning, as much of the grass was waterlogged after some heavy rain. Good facilities but the best thing for us was the location, as it was in the heart of a great village, and a pub with traditional Irish music just across the road.

Arrived in Corofin planning to stay 3 nights before exploring further south but ended up staying for 12 nights! Campsite lovely with quiet lower level for tents. (very few midges - important if you are more used to camping in Scotland). Facilities great with clean showers etc and lots of hot water. Well equipped camping kitchen and campers were also invited to use the hostel facilities. We actually moved into the hostel after 5 nights in the tent as weather was becoming very wet and ended up staying in the hostel for the rest of our stay (getting soft!).

Corofin is a lovely quiet village with 6 great pubs and good shops including a quality butcher supplying local meat,- all very welcoming. It is a very central spot for exploring the Burren and the rest of Clare. Cycling is great with quiet roads and not too many hills. Special mention must go the the girls at the Burren Centre situated in the town, they provided a marvelous service including a variety of guided hill and nature walks.

Marie and Jude were extremely accommodating and gave us a lot of help and hints for our day trips and in obtaining accommodation for our homeward journey.

This stay was great value and would have been so even if we had not been able to take advantage of a special offer that was available at the time.

Room Tip: We were lucky in that we were offered the double/family room downstairs. However all the rooms wer...

Lovely campsite in the middle of corofin. Facilities toilets & showers clean, grass cut tight, recycling, picnic benches dotted around. Free showers. Picked it as there was a breeze so beach-side campsites would be too exposed. Great location to tour from; 1/2 hr to many of sites in north & west Clare and beaches. Lovely playground at GAA football grounds a short walk away. Campers kitchen. Mainly families and older tourists. Equal number of tents & camper vans. Would recommend.

Lovely campsite. Went with a small camper. Facilities excellent. Very friendly welcome and offered access to fire in hostel lounge. I think facilities are for hostel too which might make it more difficult in high season but great for us. Will def. go back.

We had a fantastic couple of days here in this lovely camp site.
Very helpful owners and lovely pitch (we had one on the lower level which was like being in our own back garden!)
Facilities were good and clean.
Corofin was an excellent base for the surrounding area - especially if you like walking.
Nice pubs and shops - no problem getting food and drinks!
Whilst initially it doesnt feel there is much going on in Corofin itself its a quaint town with loads of character.
we will be back!

We stayed here for 4 nights in July , yes it did rain most of the time but the site was excellent . The campers kitchen was great for those in tents like us . The Owner , Marie was a very welcoming host and very helpful with our sightseeing plans .
The location is great for visiting West Clare and the Burren , you will need a car . At night the pubs are close by and have music most nights. If you are visiting this area I recommend you stay here for part of your trip.
