“Wonderful stay in Southern Ireland!”
Reviewed 23 April 2014

Myself and two friends stayed at Kilcatten Lodge B&B for one night recently, but I wish we could have stayed for much longer! It was the perfect stay - clean, comfortable, a gorgeous home and property. The place has a very Martha Stewart in Ireland feel, with the cutest rooms, amazing home-cooked delicious breakfast, beautiful property, a farm with cows grazing the grass across the way, and a 25 minute drive to the beautiful small city of Kinsale. Joe and Noreen were incredibly nice and welcoming and I am very thankful to them for being so accommodating and friendly. This is a place I would definitely return to once I plan my next trip to Ireland. One of the highlights of my trip!

We visited in July 2013 for one night. Noreen and her family are so very welcoming. We had 2 lovely, modern rooms with full bathrooms in each. The B&B is situated on a beautiful property with flowers and garden. Sunset from the back deck was gorgeous. Perfect location for us as we were traveling west to east seeing Mizen Head, Drombeg Circle and Timoleague. My teenagers and her children hung out together which was a nice added bonus. A big, delicious breakfast is served in a room which opens to the back deck. Noreen grew up in the area and was a wealth of information for us as we were tracing my husband’s ancestors from Timoleague. Do not hesitate to stay here! You’ll love everything.

Noreen and Joe are the perfect guests and welcomed us openly into their beautiful home. The room was perfect, spotless and equipped with everything we needed. The kids still talk about those fantastic old Irish recipe pancakes for breakfast. I know the area well, but honestly I can only say that if you are a visitor and wish to have some heart-filled, genuine Irish hospitality with a very personal touch, then look no further... It'll be a great base wherever you choose to explore in West Cork. We are looking forward to our next trip in the very near future.

We visited Ireland in September 2013. Kilcatten Lodge was our first stop as well as being our first experience ever with a B&B. It took forever at the car rental place that morning & traffic trying to get out of Dublin was a nightmare. The car we were given had electrical issues (the windshield wipers & radio came on frequently by themselves). The drive took us much longer than expected & it became apparent we would not make it there by 6:00PM. I called Noreen who told us not to worry & just be careful. We got about 45 minutes from her house (already late) and had a flat tire. I called her again & she told us of a great place to have dinner after my husband changed the tire. When we finally arrived to her beautiful home we were greeted like family. Our room was clean, comfortable & breakfast the next morning was wonderful. She offered many choices to choose from for breakfast & gave us great pointers on the remainder of our visit to Ireland. If I could give this B&B a 10+ ranking I would.

Room Tip: Any room in Noreen's home will be great!

spacious, modern, sparkling clean accommodation. Friendly hosts. Scenic surroundings & rural walks. Tranquil strolls along the river & into Timeoleague, around the beauty of the abbey & churches. Pensive rests on the red benches, watching the tide come in or out. Lots of wildlife to be seen. Excellent breakfasts & home made brown bread. Fresh, clean air. Away from the hustle & bustle of city life. The perfect place to relax, refresh & rejuventate, which I have done each year for three years now.

Room Tip: All the rooms are lovely & quiet. Various bed arrangements available

I recently enjoyed a one night stay in the lovely Kilcatten lodge! Noreen & Joe are excellent hosts and it was a pleasure to stay in their home. Bedroom was very comfortable, breakfast was yummy and they have beautiful gardens to relax in. Location is convenient and nearby Timoleague is a beautiful village. I would definitely recommend Kilcatten lodge to anyone looking for a homely, comfortable , peaceful stay!

We arrived around dinner time and were greeted warmly by our hosts, Joe and Noreen. I had a lovely tea service and the lodge was nicer than any B & B I have ever stayed in, even most hotels. We talked about what we would like to do on our stay and they advised us on drives, places to visit, excellent dining. The room was very modern and a quiet night' sleep. Noreen prepared a first class breakfast and excellent French press coffee. They were warm and wonderful and a lovely family. Location and gardens are beautiful, great for a quiet stay. The town was equally as charming and great things to see (Timoleague Abbey) We will definitely return!
