“NOT VALUE FOR MONEY”

Just returned from a one night stay and wasnt entirely happy with my stay ,When we arrived we were given a room on third floor wher the bed was was sunk in the middle tatty decor and furniture . i went later to get room changed to which the friendly staff were only too happy to change but the room we got wasnt much better but least the bed was ok so we just put up with it.. next morning we got up for breakfast what a calamity it was bacon not cooked looked for toast they hadnt a toaster someone got a 2 slice toaster but it wouldnt work eventually the cook put some bread under the grill but gave it 2 somebody else by the time we got the toast our already half cooked breakfast was stone cold then it was another challenge looking for coffee . so much for a night away for a break ,would have had a more relaxed night in theconfines of my own home. what a wast of 86 pounds sterling in these hard times . jacksons need to do something to bring this hotel back to 2012 standards

Room Tip: look for a room in the new part heard its better . but order your fry cooked as opposed till half co...

My husband and I had a wonderful weekend break to celebrate my birthday. We had a lovely room overlooking the River Finn in the new part which had spectacular early morning views and sunsets. Yes, believe it or not, we had blue skies all weekend!!. As the Hotel is pet friendly we were able to bring our little dog which was a great advantage to take her for long walks by the river and also the amazing deserted beaches around the Donegal coastline. We found all of the staff to be extremely friendly, courteous and helpful and could not fault our experience during our stay. Well done to the staff and management of Jacksons Hotel. A big Thank You to McElhinneys, Ballybofey for the lovely welcoming staff and the Bayview Hotel, Dungloe for a lovely lunch, both with extremely genuinely friendly staff. Well done for everyone in County Donegal for making us feel so welcome. We'll be back, as Arnie says!!

Room Tip: The new part of the Hotel overlooking the river is a must!

Beautiful hotel in lovely grounds. The view of the river is eye catching. Food was amazing and the staff are very friendly. An overall great hotel. I can't wait to return, hopefully very soon.

Room Tip: Ask for river view

After reading some comments about this hotel was dreading it! Let me tell you something for them who moan, (well you always do get one in every hotel) i dont understand what they moan about. Its not some high class hotel with gleaming floors that u see ur face in(Go to a 5* then!!) but it was clean respectful and tidy. A slight hitch with the resturaunt apart from that everything was fab! Food was gorgeous too. The staff were gr8 and kids club -thanks girls :) will definately go back. Dont knock it try it -:)xx

Room Tip: Family rooms are clean warm and very spacious

I am baffled reading recent reviews about Jacksons Hotel having just returned from there following what was supposed to be a two night Easter break with our family, we left after one night. Our experience could not be more different that the recent comments posted.

Firstly we checked in to be handed the key card to a double room (there were four of us), no offer of help with bags etc so having traipsed all the way to the new wing of the hotel we had to go all the way back to reception to let reception know that we had been given the wrong room. We were then told that all the rooms had not been seviced yet so we told the receptionist to take her time, we wanted to have lunch etc before we needed the room. Proceeded to the Bistro, found a table then asked for a high chair to be told "there is only one available and its being used". Since it was not practical to try and feed our toddler without a highchair we left and headed to the Villa Rose Hotel down the Main Street for lunch; lovely hotel, plenty of highchairs, wish we'd stayed there! Funnily enough we ate in the Bistro later that evening and there were any amount of highchairs, strange eh??

Headed back to Jacksons two hours later to be handed the same key card for the room we had already refused and told they were going to try and fit another bed and cot into the room. We again refused this and were eventually given a room in the old wing of the hotel. Phone in room not working, extremely noisy room so no sleep for anyone that first night.
Breakfast the following morning was a nightmare, no white bread for toast, tables filthy etc. Went to use leisure centre to discover lift out of order so we had to carry buggy up and down flights of stairs to get to the pool. When we left Leisure Centre an hour later lift still not working, more lifting of buggy etc up and down stairs. At this point we decided that anywhere would be better than this so we packed up, carried kids, buggy and baggage down three flights of stairs and checked out a day early.
This hotel is nothing like it is billed to be, definitely not a four star experience and we must have missed all the friendly staff members, kids clubs etc because we found the staff to be quite unhelpful and nobody came near us about kids activites etc. Only positive things i could say was the bar area was quite nice and our son had lots of fun at the pool table but that is as much as we could take from it. Overall an experience my family would like to forget!!!!

I can't understand some of the comments recently, these reviewers must be expecting the Ritz Hotel!

This is my fourth time at Jacksons in the last year and every time without fail the staff always bend over backwards for you. I'm not saying they get it right all the time but if you have an issue they sort it quickly and efficiently.

Food is of a great standard, I find the Bistro better value and the fillet steaks are one of the best I've tasted.

The noise, yes over the weekend period and especially Easter weekend there is a bit of noise until 2am but to be honest no matter were you stay in a centre of a town you will get that!

If you are looking for great value (especially with the number of group on type offers) and a warm welcome... Stay at Jacksons

Don't forget it's Pet friendly :)

We just returned from a weekend away in Jacksons hotel with our two children. First of all the staff are some of the nicest people I have met very friendly and willing to help any way they can. The girl down at the swimming pool was especially nice to our two children and let us go swimming after 6.30 with the children. The food in the bistro is first class and the staff there are very friendly and helpful with the children. The rooms are basic but spotless. The only down side was breakfast was a bit unorganised you had to go from one side of the room to the other to get toast/tea/coffee etc...
