“Feels like home”

This B&B was outstanding. They were so helpful and flexible with our arrival and delay with that. The rooms were really nice and the shower was forceful (which I always appreciate). The breakfast was fantastic and plentiful. Wayne & Astrid make you feel at home and I will definitely stay there again, if ever we have the chance. The bus is just down the street and is so convenient for getting into Dublin. I think it was about a 20 minute bus ride. There are two restaurants close by that were really good and a grocery store there too where we could get the bus tickets. We loved Dublin and we loved the Moat Lodge too.

I stayed 5 nights here in June and very much enjoyed the hospitality. Breakfast was very good with lots of variety, I had no problems at all in any respect during my stay. Astrid was very helpful and was nice enough to offer to lend me an umbrella which came in handy a few days.

I had no trouble finding the place and made my own way from the airport to the B & B using the airport bus to the city then regular transit bus to Lucan from Dublin. If I go back to the area I'll be sure to stay here again!

These 3 girls made a booking on venere.com for the family room. On receipt of the booking I verified the credit card details - which failed. I immediately cancelled the booking through venere.com and they would have received an email notification.

When they arrived they were told that their booking for the family room had been cancelled but we could offer them a twin room and a single room. This was declined.

One of the girls was invited into our private section of the house to show them the cancelled booking.

They were with us for 20 minutes before they headed back into Dublin city centre ... so why the reviewer seems to think the door was slammed in their face .. I don't know.

This review was factually inaccurate from start to finish - so I asked tripadvisor to remove the review. Still waiting for tripadvisor to respond to my subsequent emails.

The Moat Lodge is a friendly B&B close to Dublin at prices that are significantly better than you'd have to pay in Dublin itself. Indeed there are as many as 10 buses an hour from the centre of Lucan (2 minutes' walk from the Moat Lodge) into the city and they run until quite late at night, so if you are looking for a quieter (and cost-effective) alternative to the city, this is worth considering. The rooms are generally quiet, breakfast is good, there's tea/coffee facilities in the room and guest lounge, onsite parking for several cars and free wi-fi (which I found a bit intermittent).

Lucan itself has several pubs and restaurants, some with live music, including a couple of Chinese restaurants and a takeaway pizza place, all within 5 minutes' walk - so you can safely have a drink.

We really enjoyed our Moat Lodge experience. It was one of the best Bed & Breakfast stays that we had in Ireland: clean, good food, and Wayne and Astrid were friendly proprietors. They did more than expected to make our stay enjoyable. We were at Moat Lodge for four days and three nights, and loved every minute of our visit.

Room Tip: Get the upstairs triple room facing the garden.

We arrived late (after 23:00) so they left us a key which was easy to find.
Room was a bit crowded, but clean and cosy. Breakfast was very good, including both a Continental buffet and cooked breakfast of your choice.
The location and surrounding area is very nice, just just 30 minutes drive from the airport and Dublin centre

Place is beautiful and food is good too along with the welcome you could not ask for anything else..... Definite a place to stay if you are lucky enough to get a booking
