It was a delight to stay at Tigh Fitz. Penny was wonderfully hospitable and accommodated for all of our needs. The room was comfortable, clean and well-sized with modern amenities, wi-fi access and a glorious view across the Inish Mor harbour. Only wish we could have stayed longer.

Tigh Fitz bills itself as a bed and breakfast and really it is a small hotel with a lovely breakfast included but it is not a stay-in-someone's-home bed and breakfast. Which is fine, and your choices of accommodation on Inis Mor are pretty limited. It was nice here, if a little spartan honestly. Penny was nice and her staff is friendly and professional. Breakfast was terrific. The room we stayed in was comfortable though tiny. There didn't seem to be many guests when we stayed, so I wish she had put us in a larger room. The location is adequately close to town such that you don't need a taxi to get back and forth- this is a major plus. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

This is a long overdue review for our stay in July - one of the warmest summers in Ireland for some years, we swam all over the island to return to our fabulous rooftop eyrie. Our daughter loved her little furry cushions, the view to the sea and the climb up the stairs and we loved the first class hospitality from Penny - for whom nothing was too much trouble.
I was already planning my return when we got back to Australia.

Thanks Penny - you're one in a million.

Room Tip: We liked the attic for the gorgeous breeze - but they're all good.

.Penny was charming. Rooms were comfortable. Penny gave the three of us a ride into the port area to pick up bikes. We toured the island by bike for two days. We flew over and back on Aer Aran. 10 minute flight. Make reservations online in advance. B&B is quarter mile from the airport. The airline has a van that drops all passengers off at their B&Bs. Very convenient.
Great breakfast. Watched the Irish national hurling championship with Penny and friends in her sitting area. Internet was spotty. Loved the island. The bleakness is really beautiful. Saw all the sites by bike. Some hills to climb against the wind. Not for those out of shape. Horse drawn carriages are primarily for tours. Hiked up to the Black Fort and spent time talking with a 76 year old fisherman, who fishes off the edge of a 150' cliff every day. Last of his kind. He was a true local experience.
Penny was great. Let us leave our bags in the sitting area after we checked out and ride bikes until the airport van picked us up later in the day. I loved the island and would go back to Tigh Fitz the next time I visit.

In a bleak landscape you couldn't ask for a warmer welcome. We came across on the ferry, and it was a tad rough, rainy and bleak. We had already booked our stay at Tigh Fitz before leaving from Oz (which was a very painless process), and when we rang the bell, Penny opened the door with a smile. Obvoisuly our accents gave us away as she knew exactly who we were and welcomed us in, whisked us up to our room and made us comfortable.

Our room is great and overlooks the water (which Penny promised when we booked). An immediate enquiry as to what our plans were, led her to immediatelyarrange for a driver / tour so we could get out and enjoy the day. (I can't find a mention of the tour on here, but it is Norm Mahon Luxury Tours...and he is fantastic. It cost us 10 Euro each and took over 3 hours. Norm mixes humour with fact and is very engaging...and highly recmmended). It is these little things which make a place. Likewise the small enquiry upon our return about dinner, and our plans for the evening. We feel very well looked afdter, and Penny is an absolute delight.

Our room is very comfortable, and this establishment is first rate. You feel relaxed, comfortable and "at home" immediately you pop down you bags. The guest lounge is very comfortable, and you can gaze out at the waether through the picture window.

A wonderful place to stay, and high recommended.

Room Tip: Goes without saying...ask for a water view.

I am a trip leader with the Sierra Club. My group stayed here and all were very impressed. Penny had a dinner for us that was exceptional. Rooms are clean and neat. Location is only a 20 minute walk to the village. This B&B is the only place to stay on the island.
