“Historic Ruin”
Reviewed 28 May 2013

Had a beautiful day to explore the Island and the O'Brien Castle ruins. Very impressive considering the time frame and age of the castle. Explored the few rooms remaining inside and the one tower structure left. Worth the trip up and not a bad walk on a sunny day. There's just a little gate that allows access to the ruins-we walked right past at first.

“Amazing stone work”
Reviewed 25 May 2013

The castle perfectly fits with the incredible dry stone walls of Inishere Island. If you stand South of the castle you have a magnificent view over the main village and the harbour.

Great spot overlooking Inis Oirr harbour and village. Ruin is open to exploration. Watch out for the massive cow pies!

“Historic castle ruin”
Reviewed 5 March 2013

This is a long slog on foot or you can take a jaunting cart part way. The castle remains are centuries old and were built by the early settlers on Inis Oirr. It is impressive from a distance or close up.
