The group were pleasantly suprised by the warm welcome given by Andrew and his staff. No request was too much. They were kind, courteous, friendly. They were 22 of our group staying, with 6 extra dining at evening dinner. All were delighted with the delicious food, locally sourced and cooked. Some stayed in the original rooms, in the older section, and others in the new building at the back. All pristine clean and warm. The quaint decor in the older building gave a warm homely atmosphere. The dining room was lovely and bright and quirkily decorated. Excellent trad music available nightly. Bicycles were hired locally and fabulous beaches and scenic views were enjoyed. Andrew has a facility for showing historical DVDs of the island in his new function room, which we enjoyed on a wet day. He also ferried some members of the group to and fro to their destination. A visit to the big red bus at the back of the hotel is a must! It's a converted bus to a restaurant which is just unbelievable. It's run by a Brazilian girl, friendly and homely. We all availed of an island tour given by a knowledgeable taxi man who enthused with geography, history and nature. A unanimous applause by all the group of a wonderful weekend! And wonderful host :D

Room Tip: If you like it modern go for the new building at rear but choose old building for quaint factor and views.

Dear marymadden087,

Thank you so much for your delightful review. It was a pleasure to host your group and the staff really enjoyed taking good care of everyone. It is the perfect place for groups like yours to stay for a couple of days. It's not too far from any of the main towns in Connacht, and even Dubllin is now only a little over 3 hours away by road, and yet it seems like a world away once you're here. A trip abroad without leaving the country!
I hope you can get back to us in the near future.

Regards to all for me,

Andrew

Dear Rosemariegriffith,

Thank you so much for taking the time to write your lovely review. As you know by now, so many of our guests return year after year that it feels like one huge family sometimes. We see guests meeting each other and the staff every year like old friends, new friendships being formed, the banter over breakfast or in the bar at night and those pancakes!

I hope you all make it back to us in 2018 for more of the same.

Regards,

Andrew

one of the best family breaks we have ever been on. The staff were excellent nothing was too much trouble extremely friendly and welcoming. We loved the breakfast especially the children they still talk about the pancakes. The island speaks for itself absolutely stunning cant wait to return!!!! also the food in the restaurant was excellent didnt expect such high quality. Dear katherinemurphy123,

Thank you so much for your lovely review. Our breakfast pancakes (secret family recipe!) are world famous at this stage, central to many lasting childhood memories of holidays on Inishbofin from 1969 to the present day!
We won the Food & Wine Magazine pub food of the year 2017 and intend to keep that standard up for the future. We like to see every age group enjoy themselves and our guest profile attests to this, peole of all ages, kids, parents and grandparents all find something to enjoy here.

I'm certain you'll be back to join our ever increasing group of regular guests and I look forward to seeing you then.
Regards,
Andrew

Three trips so far - and now on our annual Irish islands list of places to go to. Inisbofin is a small but varied island of the west coast of Ireland. Lots of excellent walk. And Doonmore Hotel is just the place to stay - for location, for comfort, for eating and for a cheerful drink before sleeping. The staff are great. It's a family business - for families - but also for anyone who wants to enjoy the flora, fauna and land and seascapes of the island.
