Our visit at Paddy Coyne's was an unexpected delight. The Pub is at a pretty nondescript crossroads in Connemara. If you are travelling through or staying at a B&B close by eating and spending the better part of your night here is a must. The atmosphere is just great, the food is excellent. There is something for everyone, but I would definitely go for the most unusual combo on the menu you can find! Stop here if you can!

This pub was recommended by our B&B hosts and we are very thankful for that.
Spent two out of two nights at this pub. People were really friendly and fun and the food was great. We tried the grilled cod with cherry tomatoes and potatoes, the burger and the grilled haddock. The fish was really fresh and tasted delicious, the burger was just as great. Unfortunately there wasn´t any room left for desert as we were totally stuffed with the main course.
The pub has a great atmosphere, it is cosy, (not too) dark and people are just relaxed in there.
Should you come by this pub, go in. And if it´s really crowded and you have to wait for a table - do it, it´s definitly worth it!

We were camping at the Connemara camping park nearby, had arrived late and were starving. Asked the guy at the campsite where we could eat. He suggested Paddy Coynes, but that they might be finished serving. Five minutes later he came over and told us he had rung them and if we went immediately they would fit us in. We drove over and arrived to a warm welcome and no hurry on our meal at all, even though it was late. We had really really fresh fish, lovely veg - just simple ingredients done so well. The piece de resistance was the Baileys cheesecake with raspberries - just magic.
The other big plus was the genuinely friendly staff and our host who chatted away about the local mussel festival they host in May.
Final plus is the fascinating memorabilia from wall maps of Europe in the 1930s in Irish which were rescued from a local school, to Titanic material and just so much more. We will have to go back to look at it all.

I will keep this simple, it's a lovely little pub with a very high standard, which was a pleasurable surprise as we only stopped to have a bite to eat because it looked pretty quaint from the outside. The oysters were some of the freshest we have ever had and the cod and hake dishes were delicately flavoured and prepared with great finesse.
The service was excellently delivered by wonderfully pleasant staff.
It was a real pleasure to eat here and a place we will look forward to returning.
When we visited they did not accept cards so it was cash only!
The restaurant is not open all year
They serve till 9pm, but this seems flexible as we only arrived at 9.30pm

If you pass anywhere near by then make sure this place is on your agenda

On the 26th May i attended a wedding at the pub, see review 26th May.Last weekend i was visiting the newly weds and decided to eat at the pub as an ordinary customer without anyone knowing we were there. There were 5 of us .We had to wait for a table, that was a good sign, and sure and behold we were supplied with a table when it was our turn
The food was superb, the staff were efficient and the boss himself did his front of the house duties with his great sense of humour
It is a pleasure to eat in this establishment, my only regret is that it is 5 hours away from where we live
Full marks (again) Ruth/Brian Adams MBE
