“Excellent weekend in Kinvara THANKS to the Merriman hotel”
Reviewed 22 August 2013

What can I say. Even before we travelled any emails, phone calls requiring information were answered. From our time of arrival to departure the staff could not do enough for us. Food and service excellent. All staff polite and friendly, very helpful when asked for more tea, coffee etc.for room.We had to check in on the web for our return flight. This was done for us and required paper work printed (2 copies just in case) with great willingness. Any requests we made (i.e. large dinner party one night) was arranged and carried out to a very high standard.I had the misfortune of being unwell one evening (nothing to do with the hotel) and the care and concern shown by Martin and his staff that evening and the next morning (when I was feeling much better) was most sincere. I thank you all on behalf of myself and my family members (20 in all) who where in Kinvara for the weekend. All in all our stay at the Merriman hotel was excellent, so good we will be returning next year.

Room Tip: If our double rooms are anything to go by then all rooms are good.We were at the front of the hotel...

We took a chance to stay in this hotel and was it worth it.From reception right to the Manager the staff could not do any more for us.The hotel was clean and fresh.Manager made time to chat a few words to all customers while we stayed in hotel.Staff from what I could see were always alert to the needs of all customers even when busy. They were also had a great great knowledge of what was going on in the area.

Room Tip: use a base for visiting this part of Galway

This hotel seems geared to serving large coach trips, which must be demanding but that does not excuse the lack of attention to other guests, especially at breakfast. On our last morning ,the dining room staff were eventually tracked down talking around the desk at reception. Since my husband is an insulin dependent diabetic (which they knew), this could have had serious consequences had he needed food urgently. Our room was comfortable but small and I missed having any access to any UK news on tv or radio.

The so far, best meal we have had in Irland. The Catch of the day, was smoked White fish with a wonderful homemade wite wine sauce even my children adored.
Great place, and really friendly staff. Only thing is that the music starts 22.30 which is really late for a Sunday.

'Visited the Merriman Hotel for some dinner while staying a few days in Kinvara recently.
I was with friends from Finland who along with myself were extremely hungry after a long days travelling to and from the Aran islands.
We weren't disappointed! The food was great and excellent value. The staff were friendly and well-informed on special dietary requests. The location was great and the eating space was large and comfortable.

on arrival at this hotel looked great with its thatched roof, from the outside inside nice but dated needs refurb, room ok clean comfy bed, kettle yuk, rooms not ready on arrival of the coach party.
dinner was lump it or like it ,staff seemed try to clear us out for a big birthday party, not much to say, breakfast came, toast on table 10 minutes before we were, sat down with corn flakes and had full irish stuffed in your faces which upset most of us, staff were unmoved when people said they did not want it and had no choice ,then the main man came and sorted a few things out,but all at top speed,we went out in the village for the morning came back and had a great carvery, same staff happy faces and wanted to please you,i dont think i will return

Room Tip: room at rear better odd numbers

Hotel fine. Staff pleasant. Travelling with Shearings, breakfast rushed and different needs not really catered for. Toast on table before breakfast now cold. Try to give you a full breakfast before you have finished cereal. Informed by a member of staff you get what you pay for. At over £1000 per person hotel should negotiate better with Shearings. Hotel noisy until early hours of the Sunday morning.
