We were travelling as a family and needed two rooms. On first blush, the rooms looked great. The fixtures in the bathrooms were a little dated. The light over the sink in the room I had was intermittent, and you couldn't tell if it was on or off. Of course, it came on in the middle of the night, cause we had failed to guess right if it was off. The room was cold, The bathroom was colder. There was a heating unit (forced air) on the wall, but it failed to warm the room, and eventually it wouldn't turn on at all. Because of this, the bathroom was wet. Condensation, cold floor and walls, gets wet when hot moist air from the shower interacts with it. After two days, the water was pooling on the floor. Lots of electric outlets, but only half (if that many) worked. Redeeming qualities: Electric blankets on bed! Portable heater for room. Great food and very nice hostess. Very informative and helpful. The bathroom in the other room we rented (for my daughter) was exactly like ours, wet, cold, damp, old. Needs refurbishing. If it was in the summer? Probably wouldn't be as big an issue if it was warmer...

Room Tip: There is a newer section on the back of the house, and if I was going to book, I'd ask for the...

We were here in early June, 2013 while exploring the Connemara and Galway City. Barbara was very friendly and helpful with maps, suggested routes, etc., and even let us check in early, which really helped. The breakfast (and sunny, spacious breakfast area) was lovely, and our two rooms were comfortable. Unfortunately, the weather that day wasn't great, and the next morning, she said she'd been thinking of us, and wishing we'd had better weather in which to see the beautiful mountains - she had a kind of "grandmotherly" caring about her, which we really appreciated. She suggested a very helpful, direct route for our journey back to Dublin, as well. This is a great spot for a down-to-earth, authentic Irish experience, where both Irish and English are spoken fluently. Barbara's warmth and hospitality, and the quiet comfort of her home, made this B and B one of our favorites during our week in Ireland!

Room Tip: Our room was on the front, but we weren't bothered by noise from the road. You can see across th...

Our family group of ten stayed for a week at this B & B in Spiddal. We had the whole place to ourselves (6 bedrooms). Barbara and Tim Curran made us feel so welcome, and extended themselves in many ways. For example, Barbara made a special trip to Bearna to get a wonderful birthday cake for Jim. They welcomed our Irish cousins for a late evening birthday party. Tim drove into town to pick up beverages for us and our cousins. Barbara volunteered to do laundries for us. They were the most accommodating hosts we've encountered on our SIX trips to Ireland since 1989. Everything was spotlessly clean, with large bath towels changed every morning. Barbara cooked delicious breakfasts to accommodate everyone in our large group. The hosts are steeped in the Irish culture, history, language. If you're not looking for "fancy", but want to experience the "real" Ireland, stay at Ard Aoibhinn.

Bedroom TV didn't work - no channels available. Cold damp uninviting room. Towels weren't the freshest. No bath - only a shower with a shower curtain. Avocado 1970s bathroom suite. Toilet seat not fitted properly. Wonky light in bathroom and above bathroom sink. No shades on bedside lamps which were too bright. Allocated a room facing onto the noisy main road even though there was a room available at the back. Poorly lit outside. Had to ask for a room key. Poor breakfast. Dirty tablecloth as not properly cleaned after last guest.

We are working throughout the county and this b&b is a great location for planning your way from. Friendly owner and lovely breakfast. She was very helpful when she had no room and got me, the supervisor a place across the road.

Room Tip: this is a good location if you dont want to use your phone/pc, want a peaceful location/vacation

We stayed in April and found the location outside the village was great, its ideally placed for the beach, has a lovely garden and plenty of parking.
Local places to visit include the Builin Blasta cafe in the craft centre, Loughwell Park on the Moycullen Road and the road into Connemara is very scenic.

we paid €60 for one night bed and breakkie in ard aoibhinn, money well spent, it is on the west side of An Spideal and withing walking distance to the village, lovely little bungalow that welcomes you with a warm smile from barbara...we were shown to our room, a little bit unclean but then again we arrived without a booking unexpectidly so no major complaints, the bed was comfy, the tv worked and the shower was lovely...basic room for basic needs...one thing however it was quiet cold, the condensation was dripping off the windows BUT barbara had an electric blanket on the bed which made up for it and we didnt notice the cold.....barbara offered us a lift to the village for a few pints and was much appreciated.....the breakfast was lovely, full irish and more offered...lovely views of the atlantic....would stay here again
