“The Best Tour in Ireland”

We have travelled on this tour for the third time, it is truly amazing. Everytime we go back I think it can't get any better , but it does. The trip is Awesome. The scenery is breathtaking, the crew friendly, very good knowledge of the area and the time to make you feel you are on a private tour.
If you do nothing else in Ireland then do this tour, you won't regret it.

“Trip to the blaskets Islands”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 June 2014

Excellent tour. It is a bit expensive but it is well worth it (50 euros). The boat was on time (10am) and arrived an hour later at the island. We had 3 hours to explore it. We started walking through the village and kept walking round the island following the path. It s a good 2 hours walk . The view of the mainland is incredible. Back on the boat at 2pm for the Eco tours. Unfortunately we did not see any dolphins or wales but were rewarded by the numerous puffins flying around, the shags, razor bills, shearwater... There was a shop in the village where you could have a cup of tea and scone. No ice creams. Back to ventry at 5pm.

“Thanks Mick for our best memory of Ireland”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 June 2014

The three of us booked a tour and visit to the Blasket Island on our third day of a two week vacation to Ireland. I emailed Mick before we left the states, and the day before the tour and each time he replied promptly. Our family are experienced sailors from Annapolis and I was very impressed with the professional way Mick and his mate Paul (I think) handled the vessel, and the passengers. Mick and Paul were extremely informative throughout the trip, and helpful with the passengers unfamiliar to landing on the island via zodiac. The visit to the Blasket island is not to be missed, the scenery is jaw dropping and the island history is amazing.
After Mick picked up his passengers latter that afternoon, we went out looking for whales and dolphin . And boy did we got our money's worth, seeing dozens of dolphin surfing next to the boat , while we chased down Humpback whales. On a tip from one of Mick's friends on shore, we located one or two Humpback whales. Mick got us close enough to watch them breech and capture some outstanding pictures.
The entire experience that day was without question the best memory of our first visit to Ireland. If you are reading this, don't pass up a chance to do the Eco tour with Mick and his crew. It will be an experience of a lifetime.
From one Mick to another, thanks again and God Bless you and your crew.

Awesome experience. A full day into the wild.
We sailed in the Atlantic around the Blasket islands between seals, dolphins and a magnificent humpback wale.
Memorable.

“Confusing info and rude”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 May 2014 via mobile

From the reviews above it sounds like this tour is excellent. However the visitor journey starts from when you choose a destination and begin researching things to do there. I think this tour needs to make it easier for the visitor at that stage of their journey.

I researched boat trips to the blaskets online. A number of different websites seemed to describe different departure points and times but each time I phoned I got through to the same person, Mr Sheeran I believe.

I was confused by the information online and I found mr Sheeran brusque and generally unfriendly on the phone. For that reason I chose another company. As it turned out the weather disimproved and we could not get to the island at all.

We apologize if we appeared unfriendly on the phone, it certainly was not our intention.

We would like to point out however that your review refers to information sought in regards to a ferry to the Great Blasket Island from Dunquin and not our Blasket Islands Eco Marine Tours from Ventry Harbour (Ceann Trá).

While we used to operate a ferry service to the Blasket Island from Dunquin and maintained a website advertising the service, this website now carries a clear and obvious banner notice on each of its pages stating that we will not be running this service for the 2014 summer season.
We will take this opportunity to check out outdated information posted on the internet regarding the ferry to the Blasket island but can ultimately only be responsible for correct information on our own website(s).

We have a seamless internet information and booking system on our website www.marinetours.ie which the majority of our passengers avail of and for which they can vouch.

We would be delighted if you availed of this internet (only ) information / booking system and look forward to your review again, having availed of one of our (3) boat trips.

Thank you for your review and we will make every endeavour to improve our telephone inquiry service.
