An amazing old house in incredible grounds, with hosts that couldn't do more for you. The rooms are quirky and stylish, thankfully without TVs and gadgets. The green room is glorious and fun. The food was extraordinary. Hannah and Paddy were sublime hosts and even streamed the football to accommodate us seeing England lose to Uruguay. Only bad point.......

I stayed at the Roundwood House almost two weeks ago, traveling from the United States. I can't say enough good things about this B&B. Paddy and Hannah are such gracious hosts and lovely people. The meals prepared were superb and best of all healthy. It was such fun to have homemade jams/honey and Irish biscuits and bread. I got to view every room inside the main house as well as the cottage area. All are beautiful and each one has its own special color on the walls with gorgeous décor to match. The grounds at the B&B is big which allows visitors many choices of rooms as well as activities in the big reception area that was newly built or just enjoy sitting there among all the books with the wood furnace going. The Roundwood house is a 'must stay.' One will not be disappointed. P.S. If you want an alcoholic drink just tell Paddy-he'll take care of it.

Room Tip: If you have small children or want to be close to the dining room and toy room than I would recommend staying in the main house. For a large family I would recommend staying in the 'family cottage' that accompanies everyone but also has a small kitchen, washer, and dryer. The other building, where I stayed, has beautiful rooms as wells. The stroll to get there is through the pretty courtyard. All rooms have their own private bathrooms with showers.

We couldn't have chosen better for our first night in Ireland A relatively short drive (maybe an hour) from Dublin airport and a very warm welcome from Paddy and Hannah (and Roccoco the friendly golden lab). The house was built in 1715 I think and shows some of its age but that made it all the better. We stayed in the Blue Room and it was large and well equipped. Dinner that evening with the three other guests was excellent and full of great conversation. Coffee and a whiskey were taken in the lounge with Hannah and Paddy joining us. Laughter and conversation made for a wonderful end to the evening. Fabulous hosts and a charming old Georgian House - do stay here.

Where to begin. We stayed at the Roundwood House for two nights this month for our daughter's wedding which was held there, also. From the moment we stepped inside the Roundwood House we were greeted by Hannah and her warm smile. Paddy showed up shortly thereafter and helped with our luggage. They had a fire going in the drawing room and brought out coffee, tea and biscuits for us. (which were amazing, by the way). All the meals we enjoyed were absolutely the best ever! Healthy, tasty and genuinely Irish. Every small detail was taken care of and we simply enjoyed it all. The rooms were amazing and spotless, and filled with timeless treasures from books to paintings. The Roundwood House felt like stepping back in time to a more simple and serene world. I truly wish we could have stayed longer. In our party there were four young children, and they loved the playroom upstairs, dressing in costumes and exploring. Outside, they swung on the play set and tire swing and enjoyed romping on the grounds.
Paddy and Hannah were the most gracious of hosts and I thank them from the bottom of my heart for ensuring the perfect storybook wedding for my daughter and son in law. What wonderful memories we always will have of our visit to Ireland.

Room Tip: We saw every room and they are all fabulous!

We have been stopping at this wonderful Georgian home for more than 20 years, It is always a joy to do so. Now run by the second generation of family owners its relaxed style, superb food and above all genuinely welcoming atmosphere has remained consistent. The house and gardens would warrant a substantial detour as would the food. No trip to Ireland is complete without sampling at least one full Irish breakfast and this one is simply the best. At just over an hour from Dublin's ports, if you are heading to the West Coast, it makes the ideal stopping point after the crossing, as with the new roads you are only 5 hours from the Western most points. There is also plenty to do locally, especially walking in the wonderful Slieve Bloom mountains, fly fishing and a friendly golf course. In short a real gem.

Room Tip: Certainly on your first stay I would try and get one of the rooms at the front of the main house but all the rooms are absolutely charming and characterful. Be warned there are countless books to read and time can soon slip by.
