“friendly and obliging”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 June 2014

We stayed for one night in the Maldon Hotel Portlaoise recently. This hotel is in an excellent location just off the motorway. The friendly receptionist was excellent, explaining all the facilities on offer and what the local area had to offer. Her directions and suggestions were spot on! Our room was spacious, spotless and quiet as we had requested. Food was excellent and overall the hotel was great value. The pool and leisure centre were well maintained and again staff were friendly and obliging. We will definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: If you want a quiet room request one that ends in an even number!

Myself and my husband and our two young boys stayed for one night over the may bank holiday weekend. We really enjoyed the hotel and great value with bowling included. Room lovely and spacious and clean with a great view of the car park which was great for a nosey person like me to have a view of all the coming and going of the coachloads of people coming and going. We ate in the food hall for lunch but we ate in hotel restaurant for dinner. Food beautiful with great big portions and a beef casserole to die for. Breakfast lovely again huge portions and loads of choice. Pool great with really big changing rooms and a lovely man on reception. This hotel definitely worth another visit from us. We will be back.

Had the pleasure of experiencing the Maldron Hotel and it's sister hotel, the Portlaoise Heritage Hotel, as part of the Rose of Tralee Regional Finals.
They were extremely generous and accommodating both to myself and family members, with excellent staff, beauty offers and delicious food. Well worth the stay!

We stayed for one night ( a Saturday) when another hotel booking didn't work out. The receptionist on duty, Donna, was so kind & helpful. Our ground floor room was large & very well maintained & a problem with the tea tray was quickly solved by Reception. The restaurant, Stir, was very busy but we had an excellent meal served by overworked but extremely helpful, pleasant staff. Breakfast was good. Sound insulation for the rooms is poor & we would have appreciated more pillows but overall a big thank you to this hotel & we would certainly stay here again.

The hotel have excellent staff, they were all very accommodating and nothing was a problem despite our group having a number of awkward requests. I would definitely return here in the future and wouldn't hesitate to recommend to friends and family.

I checked in late due to a conference running late and was very hungry when I arrived unfortunately the kitchen was closed but the receptionist very kindly organised sandwiches and drinks to be dropped to my room.
Due to changes to my work I have to travel more and more and I can tell you that in a lot of hotel if you arrive after 9pm you are lucky to get a pack of crisps from a vending machine so when staff make a bit of effort it is very much appreciated .
Breakfast was also very good.

We stayed one night en route for west coast of Ireland. Room was large and comfortable. The only criticism would be carpet and shower curtain could do with a change. Staff all very enthusiastic and helpful. We had an evening bar meal and breakfast in the dining area the following morning where there was a good lively but not over noisy atmosphere. Food was good and well priced. Plenty on offer at breakfast.
