The room was larger than expected and very clean and well maintained......except for the fact that there was poor lighting. There was a lamp beside the tv (unnecessary) but none near the two reading chairs. The bed was comfortable but we didnt like the smoking smell in the bathroom! That was not pleasant at all. We mentioned it on check out and were told there were ony four smoking rooms......so.....were we given one???? The smell seemed to come from the vents. We used the business lounge as wifi was not available in the room, but was also available in public areas. Bar meal was fine and service friendly. It was definitely a good spot to stop on a long drive as there was also a pool if you felt like a real break.

Room Tip: If you are a non smoker check you are getting a non smoking room!

Thank you for your comments, we appreciate all feedback we get from our clients.

Unfortunately wifi is only available in public areas and broadband is free in the bedrooms - we hope to have free wifi in the bedrooms later this year. However, we have increased our bandwidth to become up to 5 times faster than it was to allow faster download and upload speeds.

With regards to the smell of smoking in the bathroom, I just wish to say that not all guests will adhere to the non-smoking rooms and will smoke anyway. In most cases this is done in the bathrooms so the fire alarms aren't set off. This is a constant battle we are trying new ways to tackle but I must apologise if it inconvenienced you during your stay with us.

Thank you once again for taking the time to bring these comments to our attention.

Yours sincerely,

John Flannery

I thought the room was beautiful and spacious. Dinner in the bar was delicious and good value although we were waiting half an hour for a burger and spring rolls. The service for the most part was good however we requested extra towels twice and they never arrived. We found it quite noisy too due to the road outside. Breakfast left a lot to be desired. The food was cold, especially the eggs! No freshly squeezed juice. The fruit salad was nice. Soda bread was not on display but was brought when requested. All in all I thought the rooms were fabulous but I was disappointed with other aspects of the stay.

Stayed here with family on a Lidl break. Good value but it really doesn't feel like a 4 star hotel at all. Not one picture on the walls in (large) bedroom, and we had to make up camp bed ourselves including putting a cover on a very grubby duvet! We had no problem with noise and enjoyed a great nights sleep.

Liked bar area where staff were very pleasant and the food in the restaurant for dinner was lovely. Didn't enjoy the breakfast at all especially the hot food.

Myself, husband and four year old stayed here on a Saturday night. We arrived at lunch time and ate in the bar. The menu was good and lots of choice with a good children’s menu. The bar staff were very nice and I thought it was a really nice touch that on the bar was free glasses of water, orange and a blackcurrant squash. My son duly took advantage of this and had 3 glasses of orange

Anyhow we checked in without problems, there were plenty of people around the hotel and we were looked after in a friendly and efficient manner. The room was lovely & big, having a double bed and single bed. There was a large desk (work area), good for the business traveller but for us it was perfect for making jig saws on! Tea & coffee tray was nicely stocked. The bathroom facilities and the entire room were spotless.

We ate in the dining room that night and the food was fantastic. The Cesar salad was a bit over dressed for my liking but my main of steak was cooked perfectly and melt in the mouth. My 4 year old had spaghetti bolognaise from the children’s menu. The portions are very big and more suited to an 8 year old, so those with younger kids be aware of this (a good complaint in fairness), as he only ate about a third of it; the cahier in the restaurant had taken note and reduced the charge on his meal.

The hotel does have a leisure centre and gym. Towels are available at the desk there. The changing rooms serve both the gym and the pool, this unfortunately means shoes & runners are worn in a wet area and the floor was fairly grotty when we were there. Used towels were thrown all over the place and many lockers weren’t working. The pool itself is a good size and we had the place to ourselves most of the time we were there; the showers also need a bit of attention as several of them didn’t work and again the floor was grotty. However I wouldn’t let this take from the experience, just remember to bring FLIPFLOPS!!

The breakfast was in the same room as the dinner and was the standard buffet fare, with eggs cooked to order. I ordered scrambled eggs and they were lovely. All staff were friendly and efficient.

There were many couples with small children in the hotel night we stayed but it didn’t feel over run with kids! Whether it was done on purpose or not but the floor we were on seemed to have the families on and I am delighted to say that I had the best nights sleep I have ever had in a hotel – it’s the first time I stayed in a hotel where there WAS NOT doors banging open & closed all night and early in the morning. If this was down to good planning, a big well done to the staff. There were 2 functions on that night too and we didn’t hear a sound.

We stayed in the hotel with a deal from Supervalu and from what we experienced & what we paid we had exceptional good value for money. For those with kids there is a fantastic playground near the public swimming pool !

We stayed here as a family last weekend book with Lidl breaks. The reception staff were'nt overly friendly on arrival, a simple smile would have been nice. It would be a lovely four star hotel but for only one complaint, cleanliness. I am a little surprised that the other reviews particularly mention how clean it is cos I didnt find that to be the case at all. Maybe it was because we were staying in the family room but we found the carpets stained; we also found the 'decorative' pillows and throws on the bed filthy. Beds were ok comfort wise. We ate in the bar with the children and the food was really tasty.
I noticed in the reception area there were empty drink glasses, bottles scattered on different tables, which were there when we checked in and still there later that evening when we went back to our room.
We went for a swim in the pool that evening. To say that the changing rooms were dirty is an understatement. They were filthy. A member who was changing next to me said there used to be an attendant there who kept it spotless but there were cutbacks, the attendant being one of them and probably other cleaning staff too I take it.
Breakfast the next morning was tasty. We probably would have stopped back here on our way home from Trabolgan only for the one issue. Would be a lovely 4* hotel otherwise.
