As soon as we approached Castle Leslie I knew we had come to the right place. It is simply stunning. The staff are so nice and very approachable. We stayed in the Mauve Room, it was beautiful and the view from the window is stunning. The food was also beautiful. It was just a pity we had to leave so soon but we are definitly goning back in the future.

Arrived to a lovely stone walled stable with a very inviting reception/lounge. I parked the car as my wife checked us in. This was a Citydeal special. ( 1 night stay with breakfast/bottle of bubbly/upgrade & use of treatment area). Room was nice. Bed o.k, not long but wide. Some things not working, Lights in bathroom flickering & the shaving mirror was missing. Nice to have ironing board. Place of this standard should have bathrobes & mini bar and more toiletries. Balcony was lovely for the afternoon sun. View is of the stables so you see riders and workers coming and going. Went for a walk up to the castle. Entrance a bit plain as you arrive. The castle is very relaxed. Lots of very different rooms with bags of character. People sitting around reading papers & having tea etc. Views of the lake and surrounds very nice. My wife had booked dinner. But when checked in booking wasn't. Was quickly sorted. Went for drink at the bar in stables and asked at reception about transport to castle. Was told not available. It is not far but difficult for a lady in heels. Dinner was excellent. One of the most enjoyable meals we have had in a very long time. Tasting menu is a delight & the service from start to finish was spot on. Back to the bar for a drink before bed. Up for breakfast about 10:15. Lovely room. Airer & bright. After such a fantastic dinner. This was a major disappointment. The selection that should have been there was quality. But there was little to nothing there. No stocking up at all. There was a struggle just to get bowls. Remains left of a fruit salad, a couple of pastries, yogurts etc. Three staff there, 2 working and one standing around. The cooked to order breakfast is rare thing these days. So it was nice to have. Overall Castle Leslie is a lovely relaxing place. There are some serious flaws here. Too much competition out there. What they do well they do really well. If I was paying full price there would have been some strong words.

We are just back from two nights at Castle Leslie staying in the Mauve Room in the castle itself. The whole experience from start to finish was just lovely. We loved our large, light and spacious room which exudes an authentic charm. Really, this is not the place to stay if you require modern but bland hotel rooms. The bath was amazing; huge, deep and with wonderful views over the lake and the bedroom itself also had beautiful views.

We ate at the castle one of the nights and it did not disappoint. At the end of the six courses we could barely move but managed to negotiate our way to the drawing room where we collapsed on huge comfy sofas. On the second night we ate at Connor's Bar - traditional pub fare but really tasty.

The various walks around the estate are very pleasant and for the two nights we were there, we didn't feel the need to look outside the estate for other things to do. We didn't go horseriding or use the treatment rooms but we talked to guests who did and they were universal in their praise - maybe next time a wee trip to the spa will be in order for me!

Generally, the castle is a very interesting place, quirky and full of historical charm. I loved wandering from one reception room to the next and admiring the many paintings. My favourite room was the library and we spent a few very relaxing hours there. It has a wonderful selection of books, my problem was not having the time to look through them all!

Not every item in the castle is in perfect order - but that feels like that is the way it should be. Genuinely, we felt like visitors rather than paying guests to a home that reflects the periods of history it has seen in its lifetime. For two generally harrassed, overworked parents, it was a dream break and we have promised ourselves that we will make time to visit again. Magical.

We were fortunate to get an excellent deal on castle leslie through one of the online deal vouchers, we were not dissapointed at all. On arrival we were upgraded from the lodge to the castle in the chinese room, for anyone seeking a unique experience this is a must. there are only 20 rooms in the castle and it was definitely memorable. Dinner in the castle restaurant was outstanding as was breakfast, a big plus was the relaxing surroundings whereby you could sit reading a newspaper overlooking the lake. Although the weather was mixed we went for a walk around the grounds which was very enjoyable. we left our baby at home but there were many families staying in the castle and it seemed to very family friendly. if you want a treat this is the place to go.

Room Tip: Castle room, chinese room has views of entrance

I have long wanted to visit Castle Leslie.. So i took my mum there for afternoon tea for mothers day last sunday.... We were blown away by the whole surroundings and the history attached to the whole estate... The afternoon tea was beautiful... The choices of tea was amazing.. I had a mint tea... Fresh leaves.. The actual tea stand was packed with beautiful fresh and ample sandwiches and cakes and fantastic scones!!! I am slightly gluten allergic but i totally ignored that and wallowed in it all... We had a lovely walk thru the house and loved it all... I have a side line career in interior decor and i loved the detail in the whole house and the way the history has been kept in oerfect shape.. We didnt get to meet Uncle Jack but I shall be taking my boyfriend to there for his birthday treat at end of may so hopefully we will be lucky enough to hear some of his stories... I just want to go stay there.... forever... Perfect location for any occasion... Well done Castle Leslie and keep up the great work and the lovely staff who have such a pride in their work... Orla served out Afternoon tea and she was a hive of knowledge about the whole estate and the artifacts... All FAAABBBULLLOUUUSSS.....

it was an dreaming escape, an amazing holydays.
Weather was perfect, but Lodge, Castle, walking in Estate, Breakfast, Diner at Conor's bar was better than better. I've dream about my trip long month before, and Castle Leslie Estate was better than I can't ever dream...
For girl getaway, honeymoon, for walking around lakes or in a Ireland dream...

(I mean Castle isn't for family trip, but it was really a gorgeous exprience)

We kicked off our Ireland Honeymoon at Castle Leslie, and it was amazing. What we loved the most I think is the intimacy. It felt like we were staying at a friends house. All the rooms are beautifully decorated, the staff is very friendly, and the food was wonderful.

As I said above, we were on our honeymoon. When we arrived at our room there was a bottle of Champagne and a congratulatory card waiting. We stayed at 2 other castles, and two 5 star hotels during the remainder of our 10 days in Ireland. Castle Leslie was the only property do this for us. It was a very nice touch.

We had breakfast in the dining room every morning, and it was lovely. The food was great, plentiful, and the service was top notch.

We had dinner our first night at Conor's bar in the Lodge on property, and we weren't disappointed. The atmosphere there is very nice and laid-back. Our second night we ate in the dining room by candle light. Which we really enjoyed and afterwards we had drinks in the drawing room. Where you get to mingle and get to know the other guests a little.

The Castle has many rooms you can explore. My wife and I just went around looking at all the pictures and we thought we had ventured into an area off limits. However we were quickly reassured we were free go wherever we pleased. If you get a chance to meet Uncle John who lives there, do! He has a great memory and can tell you all kinds of stuff about the Castles history, and himself.

We had originally planed to do day trips from the Castle but once we arrived we scrapped that idea. We spent a whole day walking the grounds. We explored the hunting lodge, the stable mews, the boat house, Church, the lakes and woods surrounding the castle. There are also a couple of antique shops and a pub just outside the entrance to the Castle. They are worth a visit.

We stayed in the Blue Room. From what we saw all the rooms are beautiful, and roomy. Full of character and history as well as period furnishings and decor. It was so nice to be away from a TV and Computer for a couple days. It really allows you to relax and disconnect from the world. The bathroom is an attraction upon itself.

We booked a full body massage for our last morning and it was amazing. The relaxation room over looks the equestrian center. I enjoyed watching the horses as I laid back after the massage. The only thing was the hot tub was broken that day. If you have a chance to get a massage ask for Tara. She was great!!

If your going to Ireland don't miss Castle Leslie! Check their website it describes the property well.
