“Tranquil, eccentric and a wonderful setting - if a little expensive”
Reviewed 29 June 2014

I stayed here for a one night break with my wife and was bowled over by the castle, its grounds and the reception we received from the staff. This authentic castle is a wonderful setting for a hotel and it positively brims with character and the eccentricity of the Leslie family. Our room in the lower part of the hotel was the most individual I have ever stayed in and boasted not having a television as a feature (one I was happy enough with). The décor and fittings were largely a one-of and it had most of the ordinary luxuries one would expect of a high-quality hotel. However, the lack of any in-room coffee making facilities was a little disappointing. We ate in the Raffles Restaurant, which to my surprise was not in the hotel itself, but in another part of the complex on the grounds of the castle. Transport was provided on request. The food was excellent, if a little expensive, although the restaurant itself was very noisy, and lacked intimacy. My wife was not impressed with the open kitchen aspect of the design. The service was good. Breakfast was superb and available from the dinning-room in the caste itself - a pity it is not used for dinner. If you want a special, relaxing and different hotel stay definitely try Castle Leslie, but be prepared to eat in a separate venue in the evenings.

Room Tip: I woul;d recommend a room in the castle itself rather than the lodge

Stayed in Castle Leslie as a treat to celebrate my mothers 60th birthday! Had an absolutely fantastic stay! Stayed in the lodge. Rooms and staff very good! Had bar food one night which was very good and dinner in the restaurant the other night which was fantastic! Particularly the wide selection of gins available at the gin bar at dinner! Loved the location and estate! All immaculately maintained! Would highly recommend to anyone looking to treat themselves or a loved one to a special weekend somewhere in Ireland!

We stayed in the Chinese Room in the Castle for a wedding last weekend and it was excellent! For a 'once-off', it was worth every penny! Our bed was really comfortable. The weather was wonderful. Food exceptional. Owen the lovely man who helped with our baggage. Meeting Sir Leslie himself was a highlight-a lovely gentleman, who even came to wish the happy couple good wishes! Walks in the grounds are bountiful. The stables are lovely. Those staying in the Lodge were delighted and those staying the the Village happy with everything (tho' it was self-catering in the latter). It is so 'homely' yet stately- a wonderful experience. There is a complimentary lift for those in the Lodge, as it is a walk away from the Castle. No television or radio or tea making facilities in the room-wonderful! The house is well 'lived-in', which adds to it's beauty and history. Go On! Indulge yourself! If Sir Paul McCartney can marry in Castle Leslie, why not treat yourself! You won't be disappointed. Be aware, I'm not sure if I'd recommend it for children, although there is a cinema screen available downstairs to watch films. ENJOY!!

Room Tip: Every room has a 'theme'. There are many weddings held here and it may be a bit noisy. EAR-P...

We stayed for one night in the castle Blue room on Sunday 11th May. The castle is a truely magical experience and a very quirky place to be! The views from our room over the lough and gardens were beautiful. The bed was very comfortable and exceptionally clean.
Dinner in Snaffles was included in our deal. It is only a five minute walk from the main castle to the restsurant and there is a courtesy car if needed. Dinner was delicious and couldnt be faulted. Breakfast in the castle dining room the following morning was also of a high standard.
The hotel will provide wellies for walking. We went on a walk to the other side of the lake the next morning. Lovely scenery and worthwhile to do if the weather permits!
Would definitely recommend and will be back!

Where do you even start , the gardens and pathways on your way in are magnificent . On arrival at reception the staff make you feel very special and important to them , genuine smiles and interest in where you have come from . Our room was amazing , spotlessly clean and truly magnificent I only wish I could employ their interior designer because everything throughout the hotel was just perfect .
We had drinks in the courtyard where the staff were super great friendly banter from the bar man ! After a walk in the glorious grounds where the gardeners were working their magic we toured the fantastic castle , which will be the base of our next visit !
Our dinner was truly wonderful flavours were sublime , superb choices and ultimate quality . Dining room staff were very particular and all worked like well oiled machine . Breakfast was amazing I had the best French toast ever ! The beautiful way the food was displayed on wonderful pieces of wood and giant ceramic bowls so tasteful .
Did anyone put a foot wrong ? Well. I fell in love with a magnificent horse called Wilson in the stables and no one would let me take him home !!!
I can't wait for my next trip in fact I might book it now , don't think about this one it's a dead cert ! Book it and luxuriate in the most wonderful hotel . Enjoy .

My husband and I stayed for one night in the castle. Car parking is close to reception and well landscaped. It is like entering someone's home rather than a hotel. Check in was efficient, we were early and as there are only 20 rooms unable to be accommodated until 3pm. We had lunch in Conor's bar in the Lodge, this is a short walk away. Service was good and the bar menu was excellent. We checked in and were shown around. Each room is themed, we were in the Print room. It was lovely. The bathrooms don't have standard fittings, there was no shower but a big bath. This was quirky but fine for us. I should have checked trip advisor before going!!!! The Castle has 3 lovely sitting rooms which are all furnished with personal items belonging to the family. I loved this as it made the visit a more personal one. The bar area is amazing!!! The grounds are lovely and beautifully maintained. Dinner was in Snaffles restaurant, in the Lodge. There is a courtesy car if one wishes to avail of this. The food was average, I had expected a higher standard it also lacked the charm of the house. Sleep quality was excellent, the bed was really comfortable. Breakfast was in a lovely dining room overlooking the garden, it was very quiet! The hot breakfasts looked lovely, I asked for cheese as it was available on request, I got 3 cheddar cheese slices! There are not many staff around during the day, to get a drink you telephone from the bar.
All in all it is lovely and an enjoyable experience but expensive.

We stayed in one of the lodges, which were large with a big comfortable bed and huge bathroom. All the lodge rooms are named after horses and ours overlooked the stables and was great to see and hear the horses first thing in the morning. We had breakfast and dinner in Snaffles restaurant and lunch in the bar all of which were excellent,we found all the staff very friendly and always willing to help.We also had a tour of the castle which was like going back in time. There is some beautiful walks around the estate and we would highly recommend a stay here

Room Tip: If staying in the lodge try to get a room overlooking the stables
