We took our parents here for an 80th birthday present, they absolutely loved it and so did we. They stayed in the Lodge and we stayed in the Castle. The reason behind this is that the Castle is not great for the elderly or infirm as they don't have a lift and it has sixty stairs to the top floor. The Lodge is all modern style and the Castle is in the old style decoration. The room that my parents had was called Sweeny (they are all named after horses in the Lodge). They have zip and link beds so they can either be a twin or double which is great. The bathroom has a walk in shower and also a bath. The room that we had at the Castle was the Governess room. It was tastefully decorated with a double bed. (They only have one twin room in the Castle which is on the top floor). The bathroom has a nice long bath. The only issues that we had with the room is that you could not lock the bedroom door when you were in the room all they have is a safety chain on the door which was not very comforting and secure. The other is that they don't have any shower facilities. We knew that the did not have an actual shower in the room but they do have a mixer tap on the bath which could easily have had a shower attachment so that you could at least wash your hair. We also knew that the rooms in the Castle don't have TVs in them but that not a problem as you don't go away somewhere nice to sit and watch TV.
While we were staying the weather was not great which was a shame as the grounds looked lovely to walk around.
Our dinner in Snaffles restaurant was fabulous, every course was just brilliant. They have a separate Gin menu with over fifty to choose from. The waiting staff were very good, happy and polite. One thing that they slipped up on was not refilling your wine glass, because I'm sure if they had done that for us we would have easily ended up having another bottle. The only let down of the whole meal was the petit fours with the tea and coffee - very bland and not very appealing.
The most disappointing thing about our stay was the breakfast next morning. As we were staying in the Castle, when we made the reservation we asked if we could let my parents join us for breakfast rather than eating at the lodge, this was no problem, and on checking in the reception at both the lodge and castle were aware of this request. On arrival in the restaurant the next morning however, the waiting staff were not expecting a table of 4. The issue was the way that we were treated during our breakfast. My mother was still eating her mixed fruit salad when they brought out her cooked breakfast, when we said that she was still eating the lady said Oh OK you want me to take it back then, which she did. As you just finished your last mouthful and put your cutlery down the plate was whisked away while the rest of us were still eating. My Father had just finished eating a piece of toast and then had his plate taken even though there was still more toast on the table to be eaten. The same happened with a glass of orange juice. We were then rather abruptly asked to leave the table and take our tea and coffee into the next room as they needed our table, even though there were three empty tables. You do not expect this kind of attitude and service from this style of hotel. We like to have a leisurely breakfast when we are away somewhere nice and especially if you want to take in the atmosphere. What a disappointing end to our stay at Castle Leslie. We did complain on check out and the Lady did remove the charge of one breakfast from the bill and apologised several times and said that she would pass on our complaint to the restaurant manager.
Would we stay again? I think so as the room was lovely and the Snaffles meal was just fabulous.

Room Tip: Elderly and infirm need to stay in the Lodge if you have trouble climbing lots of stairs.

Five nights for the price of four in the self catering mews was well worth the money. Very stylish modern accommodation in a fantastic setting. A ten minute walk from the mews through their beautiful picturesque grounds to the historical castle itself. My family took longer than ten minutes every day while they took their time tempting all of the horses with grass. Good food can be found in the lodge and absolutely fantastic service. The equestrian centre is very professional but friendly, providing lessons and treks through the castle grounds. Great for wild life too, with birds of prey, deer and bats at dusk. Just over an hours drive from north Dublin and Belfast, we will definitely be back. You do need a car for your visit.

Room Tip: Mews are 10 minute walk from the hotel, you can drive up to the castle, or the hotel will drop you in their four wheel drive. Very spacious, comfortable and quiet. Dogs are also welcome in the mews.

I loved, loved, loved Castle Leslie. During our trip to Ireland, we stayed in four Castle Hotels, but this one was the only one that felt like a castle. The accommodations were not "modern", more of an antique feel, but not medieval, either. We stayed in the Castle (not the Coach House or Stable Mews). We were in the "Chinese Room" which is the room directly above the castle entrance. There were very heavy blackout curtains, and also wooden shutters to cover the windows. This is an important feature if you're staying in Ireland in the summer--the sun didn't set until after 10PM and it didn't get dark until after midnight. The sun rises just after 5AM. The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom interesting. It had a huge pedestal tub, but no shower head. Water pressure was outstanding, and it only took a few minutes to fill the tub. I brought my own toiletries, but used theirs instead--Handmade Soap Co, made in Ireland. No TV, but I didn't watch TV the whole time I was traveling anyway. There was wifi, so I was able to keep in touch with the kids back home. We ate in the bar, and the food was excellent. We considered the fine dining experience, but at a cost of about $200 for two people, we decided to pass. I don't eat enough to make the cost worthwhile. We walked the grounds, they were beautiful, St. Salvador's church next to the castle is the one that Paul McCartney married Heather Mills in. (Beatle trivia)
Loved every minute, would love to go back, don't hesitate (Unless you really love showers over baths and watching TV.)
A very elderly Leslie heir still lives there, and we saw him both nights we were there. He is an excellent host. Thank you, Jack, for the unforgettable experience.

Room Tip: The "Red Room" is supposed to be haunted.

My partner and I stayed in Castle Leslie through a deal we got on Groupon. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left it was just amazing.

Reception is friendly and Owen helped us to our room and he's just so pleasent. We stayed in Anita's Room which we could not recommend enough. It is large with a separate bathroom which has a massive bath and shower. The spa was so relaxing and dinner was beautiful. The service in there is second to none. I cannot recommend Castle Leslie enough. Perfect, dream place.
And if you get a chance take a walk around the grounds or take the boat out on the lake, it is excellent.

Went to a wedding in castle Leslie and stayed in the coach house. Perfect venue for a wedding, top knotch everything! The accommodation in the coach house is of a good quality and a lot of attention to detail. Loved the bathroom toiletries... Well recommended!
