Stayed two nights in Eagle's nest room in main castle - delightful ! View of lake, free standing copper bath, really comfy bed - breakfast in castle was excellent but note no other food available in castle except tea or coffee or formal afternoon tea. Dinner in lodge restaurant Snaffles was ok - food ingredients excellent but chef trying too hard with too many completing tastes - asparagus tips starters had too much else going on same with sole meuruere - no need for additions ! Also all dishes WAY TOO SALTY - ease off salt in the kitchen please or get a new taster cos current one has lost subtlety. Fillet steak was great and wine list plenty to chose from. Ate in less formal Conor's bar first evening - food fine and service relaxed . Formal restaurant needs to train staff if they trying to do proper service ie waitress had no idea what a caper was - another poured wine without offering to taste .
Walks on the grounds are fantastic and this room actually has a balcony to sit on so a real bonus. Will definitely b back - not cheap but overall good value and the staff very invisible with lots of sitting rooms and chill out spaces - didn't try spa or equestrian centre this time but would love that on a winter return.
