“Best irish holidays ever”
Reviewed 15 November 2016 for a stay in February 2016

Came back from our short brake and can't stop thinking what a hidden gem is the house and Maurice the owner. The cottage is so well looked after and well equipped, that you will feel like you are in high rated hotel on self catering basis with the views to die for:) Maurice has all detailed information about the area and places to visit. He had done a big file about everything: restaurants, shops, castles, buses with time tables, nearby going on events and etc.. you wouldn't need an internet, everything is in his info collection:) As we traveled in colder season we enjoyed that real fire every evening. it was so relaxing and pleasant.
The cottage is in such a beautiful place: river, valley, forests, swans, horses...it's impossible to describe in words, it should be seen. Also its hard to explain simplicity and worm of that lovely cottage and it's owner. We would definitely recommend it.

“What a wonderful place to start our Irish adventure!”
Reviewed 27 September 2016 for a stay in September 2016

From the moment we met Maurice in a near-by village to guide us to the cottage, he went out of his way to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. Yes the cottage is a little remote, but using the local map provided, it was easy to navigate our way around. Maurice showed us how everything worked, encouraged us to avail ourselves of any supplies/foodstuffs and entertained us with stories of the 3 generations that have called Dromore Cottage home. Maurice also answered our questions by email very quickly. Thank-you Maurice!

The cottage is spacious, impeccably clean and has stunning views across the Blackwater Valley. Plenty of wood was provided to keep the chilly nights at bay. We would highly recommend Dromore Cottage as a perfect place to unwind and relax in a lovely setting.

“I don't see how it could have been a better place to stay.”
Reviewed 13 October 2015 for a stay in October 2015

The cottage has gorgeous views in a lovely quiet corner of the Blackwater River. The view is always new as the river changes with every tide. The birds and boats are fun to watch. The nearby sheep were a treat and most entertaining. Ditto to the horse who escaped from across the road :-). The cottage was a dream! Clean and comfortable, bright and airy, a complete delight! The very hospitable owners provided wood for the wood stove which took any chill out of the air and was very easy to use. They left a full book of information and leaflets about what to do in the area which was very helpful - also, an atlas which I used every day. They have clearly taken a great deal of care and love in restoring/rennovating this beloved family home on the river. On a scale of one to ten - eleven.

“A Beautiful place and such amazing hospitality”
Reviewed 27 August 2015 for a stay in July 2015

Thank you for such an enjoyable stay in your cottage. We all really enjoyed our two weeks spent there. The cottage was beautiful with everything we could possibly need. Thank you Maurice for telling us about the Hurling match, which both of our sons really enjoyed, and for taking us for a trip out in your boat on the beautiful Blackwater River. The Sea Bass that you caught was really delicious - thank you so much! We really enjoyed the area and visited the Knockmealdown and Comeragh mountains for lots of walks. We enjoyed the walk at Ardmore on the coast, along with the spit near Dungarven. We also enjoyed a walk along the Slob bank in Youghal where we saw lots of coastal birds. We found walking in Ireland hard to plan due to the absence of footpaths on all of the Irish OS Discovery maps. However, with the help of local knowledge through the geocaching website we managed to find the start of several walks along with parking co-ordinates! In fact we learnt quite a lot about the area before we even got there! There is not much coastline that you can actually walk (but I guess coming from Cornwall originally I was spoilt as you can walk it all!). However, if the weather had been better there were lots of lovely beaches to enjoy. From next April there looks as though there is going to be a fabulous bike ride from Dungarven to Waterford along an old railway line - not open yet, but looks as though that will be quite an attraction! Thank you for a fabulous time along with the amazing Irish hospitality!

“Blown Away”
Reviewed 22 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

Maurice and Lucilla really made us feel at home and we felt like they were old friends ... Very kind and thoughtful people. I told my dad to work on our spare room in case they want to come visit San Juan Island, WA. The property was spotless and had a mesmerising view. We plan to come back next year.
