Travelling from the ferry port at Rosslare to Killorglin,County Kerry. We stopped over night at,The Toby Jug Public House as we had been on the road since 1.30 am that morning.
The Toby Jug was situated in the main street,Cappoquin. We were made very comfortable and, very welcome by our hosts and, local customers.
We ate at the pub and,Mary cooked to order. The food was inexpensive, plentiful and, just as we like it,nothing too fancy.10/10 for the sherry trifle',probably half a bottle went into my dish'..
Our 15th visit to Ireland, and,as expected something to make you smile on every trip.On this occasion it was when I went to hang up my clothes in the wardrobe, and,as I opened the door,a 4ft Santa Claus greeted me',as well as the entire pubs Christmas decorations..Great stuff..
Bottled water had been placed in our rooms which was a nice touch, but,a tea/coffee making tray would have been ideal.
One of our party has a severe visual impairment and,Mary went out of her way to ensure that her room was very safe and, accessable. This was much appreciated.
If we are ever that way again,we will stay at the Toby Jug again.
September I'm told is very busy due to the Salmon fishing season,on Cappoquins wonderful river.More
