we would like to extend our thanks to the staff of Morriscastle Strand Caravan Park. we had too many good experiences at this gem of a camp site it would be impossible to name them all , WE Stayed in our motorhome here for 2 nights at the end of our Holiday after spending 3 nights previous in a not so good camp site. from when we arrived to when we left we felt welcome , comfortable and secure. The pitch size was impressive, very well planned out and spotless , facilities were modern and all functioning could do with more fresh water sources ,would recieve even more complements if Kids had a place to cycle... maybe as part of the sports area which is fantastic. also a recycling/waste area would help closer to camping area, there was no need to leave the park untill it was time to go . Genuinely impressed with all the hard work and planning that goes on behind the scenes to run the Park and its environment,
hope we return to the Park soon, and would strongly reccomend it to any campers out there

We have just returned from a 5 night stay in our campervan, and kids in a tent. We really like this campsite, and having stayed in quite a few around Leinster, this definitely gets our top vote. Reception couldnt be more helpful and friendly. Sadly I had to mark down a point as the one thing that I dont like is the early closing of the kitchen and showers. I havent come across this in other parks, and found it irritating, as my partner was working and only getting back at around 7pm, and by the time we had eaten, it was past 9, and we couldnt wash up. My Partner also went to have a shower, and it was then we found out that the showers also close.
There was a social night on Saturday night, and we heard them asking as they finished, to respect that some campers would be sleeping, this was not the case.
But on the whole, we would happily come back to this campsite, and in fact intend to do so before the summers end.

No better place to camp in Ireland when the sun is shining and the sea is calm. Not surprising the campsite was full to capacity, but the staff kept a smile on their face and everything running smoothly. The shop has everything you would expect and the cafe is a very welcome addition. We stayed in the newer Beachside camping area. It was great to have a large space for the kids to run around and also to have the cars parked away from the pitches so no risk of danger to the little ones.

Some constructive criticism:

The Beachside camping area together with the Mrs Somers Area seems to share just one tap, this seems unnecessarily restrictive.

The distance to the toilet block facility was pretty significant with small children in tow (and in darkness). A small facility block shared between the two camping areas would be much appreciated.

The opening times for showers of 8am to 9pm is too restrictive. 7am to 10pm would be a better solution.

Dear Dyflin,

Many thanks for your review about our Holiday Park - Morriscastle.
With regard to your points noted, I would like to note the following.

We did indeed have another water point in Mrs Somers area for campers there exclusively but we unfortunately lost this tap at the start of the summer due to a burst underground pipe that cant be fixed until the end of the season. Hopefully this will be rectified for next year.

At the moment there is no possibility of building another services block as our septic tanks would not be able to cope with more toilets etc. When we complete our new Sewage Treatment Plant, we could have a look at this again. For the moment we have the area completely lit up for people to manage the walk at night.

Our showers and kitchens are open from 7am to 9pm. Here at Morriscastle we do tell everyone on arrival that this is the case so that no-one is taken by surprise, as well as pointing it out on our Information Map that everyone receives at check-in. We have one team of maintenance managers on daily and they work steadily from 7am to 9.30pm. We could not leave the showers or kitchens open all night [as the kids would hours of fun inside!!] so to maintain clean facilities, we feel that 9pm is a suitable closing time that works for the majority. I appreciate you feel that they should be open later but unfortunately at the moment, this isn't a possibility.

Look forward to seeing you back at Morriscastle and thanks again for your review.
Niamh

Had an excellent stay here. The campsite is very child friendly and pet friendly. Lots of space for the kids to play as well as two tennis courts, soccer pitch, games room and beach right beside it. The toilets, showers and campers kitchen were very clean and close to everyone onsite. There is a great shop with everything you would need (or forgotten to bring) for your holiday. And a take-away with very nice food and good value for money. All the staff are very friendly and very helpful. I wish we had stayed longer but we will be back again.

Stayed here for the 3rd time and can't wait to go back. The site is very well managed and staffed, and even now they are polishing a very shiney resort. Campers and caravaners are well catered for, and the site gets better everytime we go back, with a newly revamped reception, shop and cafe. Kids club is great, and facilities include tennis court, basketball court, enclosed football pitch, play park, and indoor amusements. As well as the normal toilets and showers, there's also two campers kitchens with washing facilities, microwaves, fridges and freezers. There are laundering and tumble driers available also. The beautiful sandy beach is only about 50 feet from the site and manned with a life guard. Our kids were often in close proximity to friendly sea-lions while bathing and this made their adventure more exciting. The nearby village of Kilmuckridge has everything you might need, petrol station, 2 small supermarkets,2 bars and restaurant, fish and chip shop, hotel and a beautysalon. Gorey town itself is only about 10km's or so away. The management and staff are really friendly and approachable and have often checked in on us to see if everything was to our liking and if there was anything we thought they could improve on. If you go camping, GO TO MORRISCASTLE. You'll not be disappointed.

A fantastically family run site. Very clean and well maintained with all the facility's you might need when on a camping holiday. Nice and adjacent to a really fabulous beach (morriscastle beach ). The staff are very friendly and most helpful + I would like to say Niamh and her brother run a great site. Thanks again folks for a great stay.

This weekend was our first visit to this campsite (2ad +1ch) and we have to say it was brilliant, we are already planning a return visit in the very near future.

The campsite is excellent - well layed out, secure, & spotless, it has great facilities for all the family, an amazing location right beside a fantastic beach and a lovely friendly atmosphere.

Compliments to Manager & Staff we would highly recommend.
