Glendalough Hotel

This was our second time staying at this hotel, despite the fact that we have been to Glendalough dozens of times. Booked a suite for two nights because some of the rooms are small. Suite was the perfect size just what we wanted , three windows on a corner room overlooking the river giving fantastic views . This is a great spot for a base for exploring. Went to Avondale house and found this amazing Forrest on the grounds with a river at the bottom of the valley, well worth a visit.
The food in the hotel was simply gorgeous as ever and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The only pitfall was they didn't leave any milk in the rooms for making tea/coffee and the pillows were very flat. Other than that it was brilliant. I have already enquired about staying there again this September.....looking forward to it

Characteristic Hotel in a magic part of Ireland. Spiritual expierience as the area is steeped in history. Well worth a visit. The hotel was very clean and our room was huge and very confortable!! The staff were helpful. The food in the restaurant and at breakfast was abundant and very high quality, beautifully presented.
A place and hotel to visit!!

Went for a family lunch in the hotel as there was a big group, normally we would go to another place nearby but decided it was time to give the glendalough hotel another try after a previous bad meal. Unfortunately the food was very bland. I had overcooked beef with undercooked vegetables. My wife asked for some gravy which took a long time for the waiter to deliver. He was clearly working hard and going the job of two people. A real sense of throwing out any rubbish for transient tourists that visit the area and give a rubbish service as most people wont be back

This was our second visit after a gap of ten years and it was nice to see that things had not changed. If you go looking for wifi, dry cleaning, room service etc, you may be disappointed. If you expect fast restaurant service, then you may be disappointed. However, if you go to escape from the world and want a comfortable hotel in tge middle of an area steeped in history and full of natural beauty, this is the place. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The pace is relaxed. This place oozes Irish charm and you will leave with wonderful memories. Thankyou Glendalough

We were pleasantly surprised at the overall quality of our lunch. The seating was very comfortable and the waitress was pleasant and obliging. My husband had chicken tikka tortilla wrap and I had goats cheese tart. Both were beautifully presented and tasted lovely. I would certainly recommend this hotel for great tasting food and service.

Stayed here for a night in June 2014 . Hotel was spotless as was our room and good pub food . SA wee bit dated but everyone was so friendly. Our room had a view over the monastery gate which was nice and it is a perfect area for walking. It was our second night in Ireland and a lovely peaceful place in the evening. However we had enormous trouble getting in to the hotel and no parking when we got there because it was a weekend and I think every second family in Ireland had also decided to go to Glendalough at the same time. However after 5 pm most of the visitors went home and it was lovely walking in the ruins in the evening light. A magical place despite its popularity. Definitely would stay at the hotel again though. Breakfast was served which was very nice.

Stayed in this hotel July 2014 for 2 nights. We used it as a base for walking routes. I cannot praise the hotel highly enough. It is a bit dated in parts but its spotless, staff are so friendly, food was excellent. Breakfast is actually served to you and what a great choice.
the location is just unreal as you are right beside the visitor centre for the walking routes and the monastic village. the buzz last weekend was fantastic.
Barbacque (cant spell) was available outside all day, Saturday and Sunday. outside cafe dock with sandwiches to accommodate walkers who wanted a packed lunch.
Just cant say enough about the hotel and Glendalough itself. Well worth a visit.
