Glendalough International Youth Hostel

It was really nice to have this hostel available. It's a pleasant walk very close to the main site. It's old fashioned, spacious, and situated on pretty grounds with views of the hills. I could have stayed late, and I was able to wake up in the morning and be there alone. I signed up for a ten room dorm but ended up being there by myself, which was a plus. The bathroom was attached to the room so you don't have to leave to use it. The staff kind of ignored me, but that wasn't a big problem.

Room Tip: You might want to request a view in advance.

Too expensive in relation to what you get. Bad showers and smelly room. Internet usage 30min 1 €. Nevertheless, nice surrounding. If you are not self catering, you better choose a b&b which is the same price considering breakfast, but much more comfort.

Staying near St. Kevin's can be costly. This hostel offers the best rate and is located right beside the site. With the Glendalough Hotel just down the road, you are close to a restaurant/bar. However, it would help to bring a few things from a grocery store such as snacks, if only to save on vending machine prices. I would definitely recommend this property.

Room Tip: All the rooms are en suite, which does make a difference. However, the place is a bit of a maze. I...

Just there for one night after a long wet day of hiking. Friendly and clean. The bar at the hotel down the street was also perfect. It is a very short walk from the Glendalough visitors center and monastery.

My husband and I stayed at this hostel for three nights in Aug 12. It was clean, peaceful with a fully equipped kitchen. We had booked a double room with attached bathroom. The room was okay but the mattress was quite uncomfortable. Location of the hostel is ideal for hiking in Glendalough. Staff was friendly and they have a lot books available for the guests. This place is good value for money as long as you do not expect too much.

On the plus side, the kitchen is clean and the staff are friendly. However the 5 star rating given to this hostel by An Oige is not deserved. The bedroom had a musty smell, muck on the carpets which were not hoovered and it looked like only some of the bedding was being washed after each person. The shower button had to be pressed about 20 times before hot water came out.
The surroundings are beautiful and If you just want a bed for the night, it's fine, but if you're looking for a nice play to stay for a couple of days you might need to look elsewhere.

We stayed at this hostel during a week of hiking the Wicklow Way. We were greeted by friendly staff. The grounds were beautiful and I was really glad to have a kitchen to use for making my own dinner, breakfast and packed lunch for the next day as we were travelling on a budget! The kitchen and dining room were clean and spacious. However, the bedrooms were very run down, the bunk beds were quite uncomfortable and furnishings were generally shabby. The bathroom was cramped, unclean and had no mirror. But we did spend a pleasant evening hanging out in the big comfy sofas near reception and were pleased with the array of games and books available to all guests.
