The Beach House Greystones has pride of place in the new multi-million euro Harbour, with the benefit of vastly improved facilities and ease of parking. Greystones Harbour is now world class & the place people want to be this century.
The Beach House is in the centre of this wonderful setting with uninterupted sea views. Unfortunately, that is where the wonder stops! The decor and odour when you enter the Beach House is nothing short of appalling. But we remained brave on the basis of some good reports on the food. It was more than bravery we needed judging by the messy tables.
We thought they had not had a chance to take down the halloween decors, but alas that massive black cobweb on the corner of the ceiling was genuinely from a 60s halloween!!
There was no rush to serve us or make us feel welcome in any way, which is most uncharteristic of this friendly town. Yet we noticed several staff unoccupied at the counter.
The food arrived reasonably quickly which was just as well, as we were discussing our chances if approached by the maker of that big old cobweb!
The food was reasonable good and certainly better than expected on this halloween stage.
However, we simply could not be tempted back as the environment was so chilling.
The spider had a strong influence on the bathroom floor also as we were almost stuck to it by who knows what!
What a shameful waste of a great opportunity, if it was in the hands of a good gastro pub operator!

Typical pub grub, but nothing special. Head waitress was very accommodating when I asked about gluten free dishes. I ordered plain grilled fish with salad and chips. Fish was lovely, if slightly over-cooked, but the salad was wilting. I'd asked for garlic mayo instead of tartare, but still ended up with the tartare. Slow service and expensive for what it is, but a cosy setting.

The food is average to poor, the premises is worse but the service is quite simply appalling! Forget going in for lunch - you'll be lucky if you get food in less than 40 plus minutes. My wife had to leave before she got food after waiting 45 minutes as she had an appointment and was shouted at by the maitre d. There are a lot of nice restaurants in Greystones - this isn't one of them!

The menu is fairly limited, but boy did I chose the right dish here! The lobster and crab salad was about e18, and it was delicious and succulent, and very plentiful and reasonably priced for what are, frankly, very expensive ingredients! Service is ok, setting is convenient for the marina. My friends had the battered Hake, which they liked.

We had lunch there after the well-known walk from Bray to Greystones.
Very nice fish&chips and homemade fish cake for a good price.
The restaurant is very clean and quiet. Nice atmosphere. Free wifi inside.
