“Wonderful Stay”
Reviewed 13 October 2012

We stayed here 2 nights. The room was large, comfortable, and clean with a small en suite. We slept very well. The hosts were very helpful and informative. We were given a good amount of options for breakfast. The surround area was beautiful, even in the rain. Definitely one of the better stays of our trip.

Just been to tudor lodge for 2 nights, we had room 3 , as previously stated room was large, and clean. If you are a veggie and have informed them you are, you do expect them to provide a veggie breakfast . First night scrambled eggs and half a tomatoe, fair enough, second day no effort to get any alternative , not even beans because they were too expensive. Agree with hardy 40

Room Tip: dont go if your a veggie

We were a group of 6 people who stayed in this B & B in August 2012. On arrival, we were not welcomed nor given any helpful information regarding the surrounding area. At breakfast, our host was uncommunicative. One got the impression that the host was tired of the job and had little interest in his clients. Other members of our group stayed in a B & B next door and had quite the opposite experience. Otherwise, our B & B was clean and tidy with a pleasant back garden which led down to the river.

Stayed at this purposebuilt B & B for one night on Sunday 12th August. The room (3) was large and had a double and single bed and a small en-suite with shower. Comfortable bed and a good night's sleep.
Breakfast was OK and the owners were friendly. Short walk to the local hotel/pub.

My daughter and I stayed here for two nights during a bicycle tour around Ireland. We found the room, breakfast well above average and the host went out of his way to accomodate us. The world is a little different when you're touring on bicycles and being on the end of our tour we were trying hard to conserve financial resources. We wanted to stay another night to be able to explore the area more but really couldn't afford it as we had planned on more camping on the trip. I asked our host if it was possible to camp in the back yard. There was the obvious desire to sell us a room but he also understood our situation and we agreed on a camping fee. We enjoyed the day and returned to setup our tents for the night. Our host came out and appologized for trying to get a camping fee out of us and let us stay for free. This was beyond what he needed to do...he's in business to make a profit. No...you should never expect this of anyone...please don't go expect to show up there to camp...we were wet...road worn and trodden travelers that found a kind host...you should stay here!!

My family and I were on a trip in Ireland back in March. We decided to rent a car and just drive the countryside to Glendalough. It began to get dark so we needed to stop and try to find a place to stay for the night. After coming up empty a two previous spots, we found the Tudor Lodge in Laragh. The manager, Chris, welcomed us immediately, even though we obviously surprised him coming in the middle of the night. He was very hospitable, showing us every type of room he had before we decided on one. The room was spacious and clean, properly maintained and rustic for that woodsy feel. All we were looking for was a place to sleep, shower, and eat, and he provided all above expectation and satisfaction. He served us a hot breakfast in the morning in his dining room, complete with eggs, sausage, ham, toast, coffee, tea, breads, etc. The lodge itself it located on a picturesque creekside with beautiful scenery and ambiance illuminating the best features of southern Ireland . We checked out after one night, but decided to come back and stay another because of the experience we had. The town the lodge is in, Laragh, has a local watering hole, Lynham's of Laragh, right in the center of town. Our family, consisting of my two sisters and our dad, had so much fun there talking with the locals that we went back a second night and thankfully, Chris had our room available again. We will definitely stop in again on our return trip to Ireland. Many thanks Chris!!!!

When we arrived we were greeted by the owner's son, Chris Jr. Very welcoming place, nice decorated, and a peaceful night of sleep. We stayed in room 1 - large room with everything we needed. Stayed there only one night and wished we could have stayed longer. Needed to borrow a ironing board and iron - no problem. Suggestion on where to eat - no problem. Needed to find out where to pay our toll - no problem - extremely friendly and helpful. Had a hot shower in the morning - it was fantastic! Not one complaint! The landscape on this property is beautiful. We enjoyed our evening in the back yard by the river on their deck enjoying the views of the mountains, very peaceful. Lots of parking off the road and just minutes down the road from St. Kevin's Kitchen & Monastic village and the Wicklow Heather Restaurant - check those out while there in town. Chris Sr. made our breakfast to order - my husband loved the scrambled egges and bacon - I couldn't get enough of his tea - wonderful! We highly recommend this place and hope that in the future we can return and stay there again.

Room Tip: Room 1 had a great view of the side yard and the front parking area if you want to keep an eye on yo...
