“Great Hotel!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 August 2014

We have just returned from a two night stay in the Castle Oaks Hotel Castleconnell. There were 26 of us in total, 13 adults and 13 children. We were there to celebrate my fathers 70th birthday. The children ranged in age from 13 years to 9 weeks. What a weekend!! The staff, from my first point of contact which was Kathryn and then Gobnait, couldn't have been more accommodating and efficient. We all arrived at different times so Martina, in reception, allowed me to check in everyone and get their keys for them as they arrived. This made our check in run very smoothly to say the least. We had two houses and five garden suites booked. Each was very impressive, clean, modern and well equipped. If I was to find just one fault it would be that a mini fridge in the family suites would be handy to keep milk fresh and water cool for the children. The leisure facilities were enjoyed immensely over the weekend as well as the playground on site and the fabulous walk by the River Shannon. The bar food was amazing and the staff were, again, very friendly and efficient. On the Saturday night we had the 'birthday dinner' booked for 6.30pm. We had a dining room to ourselves which was ideal as we didn't need to worry about the children disturbing other diners. Sinead, in the restaurant, is a massive asset to this fabulous hotel. With her lilting Donegal accent, nothing was too much trouble and to be honest, she had thought of everything in advance and nothing was a problem for her. Her partner on the night was Michael and he, also, was very efficient and friendly. The food, from start to finish, was mouthwatering with a really nice childrens menu available too. They had their own table and their food was presented to them in the same high standard that was presented to the adults. All in all, I would highly recommend this hotel for a family gathering or just, simply a family weekend away. We will definitely be returning. WELL DONE TO ALL INVOLVED & thanks again for making our weekend very special.

Having just completed a short stay in Castle Oaks, I felt obliged to share how special this place is. Having booked a suite for myself, partner and three children, we were hugely surprised to find a modern, clean, spacious and beautifully decorated accomodation. After taken in the River Shannon and a walk along the leafy banks of the hotel grounds, we decided to pop into the hotel bar for some food. Our ever chatty three year old decided that the barman, Norman was going to be her best friend and he obliged in engaging her in a lenghty conversation. The food delivered to the table was quick and far above bar food quality in presentation and taste - a real high light - All this with a wedding dinner in full flow in an ajoining room. We slept soundly and had a lovely breakfast followed by making full use of the leisure facilities, also staffed by wonderful helpful staff. We will be returning to this gem in the near future.

Stayed here in August 2012 and was very pleasantly surprised at the tranquillity and the first class service we received at this hotel. The grounds are very nice and we stayed in an apartment on the grounds and had the use of all of the facilities on offer. Would recommend to all.

Dear Sir /Madam,
I had the pleasure of attending a wedding reception at the hotel 5/7/2014. The staff from the young man at the reception table all the way through to the night staff were excellent and most obliging. The food and service were top class.

Castle Oaks was where my husband and myself booked as our wedding venue . From the first initial show around of the venue right up to the day itself (15 months approx) we can not fault one thing . I am from Dublin originally so I was not familiar with Castle Oaks . When we arrived there , I was taken in instantly by the beautiful gardens and the River Shannon right on the doorstep .( The photographs are amazing !) The House itself is so charismatic and charming . When you first enter the foyer you are met with a beautiful archway and staircase . I could instantly picture my wedding being held here . The rich colours would be beautiful in winter as there is also a warm open fire there, however we had decided on a summer wedding and this location was the best choice we made .

The staff & service we received were next to none . Gobnait the owner is very hands on and was always available to answer questions and to offer advise . Jamie thye banqueting manager is an absolute credit to the establishment , he is a complete genius when it comes to wedding planning and all my requests were met with the highest standard and he did not take his eye off the ball once . Jamie completely reassured us that we had made the right decision on our choice of venue . Not forgetting some of the other staff members, Padraic, Martina, Orla and Kathryn all made the experience in dealing with the Castle Oaks as simple as possible .

Our guests and ourselves were blown away with the food . At our tasting , it was hard to choose as everything was so good and I was anxious that the standard wouldn't drop when it came to serving 220 guests. I can confirm that it certainly did not drop and everyone was raving about it . The organisation from the kitchen and serving staff was outstanding, everyone's meal was served promptly and was hot on arrival which can sometimes be hard to achieve with a large crowd.

On our wedding day , we were lucky to get a scorcher and we were able to have our drinks reception outdoors. Castle Oaks have the ideal set up for this and with the mature gardens surrounding the house , there is nowhere else you would want to be .

With regards to accommodation there are only 20 rooms in the main house, which I reserved for family, however the rest of our guests stayed in the garden suites and holiday homes . Both of which got great reviews and have very attractive prices for a wedding party . This was a factor also in booking as we had a lot of people travelling .

I could type all day about how great this venue was for our wedding, and indeed would be a perfect getaway for any time of year , but Ill stop now and say that we couldnt have been happier and I would recommend this hotel again and again.

Thanks guys !!!! You made our day !

Ciara & Paul
