“Great stay”
Reviewed 29 July 2013

We stayed in the hotel the weekend of the 19th July 2013 with a voucher. The hotel was lovely, and the rooms where clean and the food was good! The restaurant was not open and we could either sit in the bar have our dinner or sit outside, the weather was gorgeous so we chose to sit outside, which was fine, but we got destroyed by the midget! A few candles could help with this! The staff where great, especially the waitress on the Friday night.

we didn't even get to this hotel because we booked it in march and gave our credit card details, I rang today ,2 weeks before we were due to check in only to be told they never even heard of us. what a disgrace, holidays booked off work for that time, I wouldn't reccomened this hotel to any one. I certainly wont ever be booking it again. the worst ever.

Arrived late yet instantly supplied with menus and welcomed like old friends. After dining on fresh, local seafood and refreshing in the spacious room we were given a brief but accurate 'virtual' tour of the island. This proved invaluable the next day on our tour! To be welcomed by name at breakfast, entertained continuously by the most pleasing staff imaginable - this was truly a magical experience. Maybe it was the weather, but we feel that even in winter this place is probably even better. Will be back. Thank you Michael and all the staff!

What a place to stay. Too cheap for what you get rooms10/10, staff 10/10 , Could stay here anytime . Fantastic spot. For walking, kayaking, and chilling 10/10. Sight seeing. Food GREAT. If you get a deal get your bum into gear and get here. Great rest before doing Croagh Patrick on reek Sunday.

I stayed here one weekend recently, after a friend recommended it, and was not disappointed. The barman eventually convinced me to try one of his cocktails, which the locals assured me were famous, and the appletini I was served lived up to its reputation. Please insist on getting the barman, Kris, to make you one during your stay. Also I recommend the range of speciality coffees, maybe even order them all.

The room was comfortable, tv remote worked and shower was good. Great seagull view.

Room Tip: Room 120 overlooks the sea, and is definitely not difficult to find through a maze of hallways.

Stayed in this hotel recently. Asked were there any rooms available, young guy at reception put us in room 110. The "double" room was tiny and dark with a small window that overlooked a car park at side or rear of hotel. Our bedroom appeared to be over a kitchen so you could get a strong smell of cooking from kitchen below. As extractor fan on the roof next to our window was deafening and kept us awake all night. I complained to young girl about room next morning and she couldn't understand why we were placed in that room when there were plenty of better rooms available with views over the bay. They obviously try to get rid of their worst rooms first. What a rip off.

Room Tip: Insist on seeing the room before you pay deposit

We enjoyed the scenery around the island - very dramatic - but were glad we hadn't paid the normal rate either. Our room was at the back overlooking the kitchens and bins and the plumbing was frighteningly loud on our second night, so we thought something was going to explode. It wakened all of us in several rooms. The bar food was awful -all freezer food - and far too expensive for what it was. Breakfast was fine and staff friendly.

Room Tip: Choose a room at the front for good views and better plumbing!
