We booked this on a very short notice cheapie with BA and hoped for an OK hotel as the price was very low. What a pleasant surprise!

On arrival the hotel gives a mixed impression of a bit of a retro seventies motel throwback and a quiet tranquil hotel. We really liked the palm trees and retroness of the style as it seemed to suit our wish for a tranquil break to recover from illness.

However, tHe room, whilst not "boutique" was modern, clean, comfortable and had a brand new bathroom and TV. Plenty of sizeable mirrors, good lighting, decent hanging space and an iron. The bed was large and comfortable. A French door stepped straight onto the terrace with comfortable furniture and where the pool was, so we had the opportunity to sit outside and read or take a cuppa from our room out when the weather allowed - an added bonus we had not expected. Gardens were pleasant and there is a tennis court if you feel energetic.

The bar area is adequate and restaurant quite nice, although the evening lighting was a little gloomy and improving that to some lower level lighting would make it cosier. Improving the seating in the bar nay have encouraged us to tuck down for a brandy and game of chess after dinner. The food we ate was of a good standard and the steaks we had were well cooked and nicely presented. There was a good wine selection at very reasonable prices. Breakfast was laid as a buffet with good selections and there was more to order such as porridge if you wished. Quality of the sausages and bread could be improved and some fresh fruit like bananas would have been nice.

Overall, we really liked the relaxed ambience and the tranquility of this place. The staff were pleasant, helpful and efficient.

It is clear that this hotel is undergoing a programme of maintenance which hopefully includes the slightly grotty metal windows, and improving some of the soft furnishings, but at the deal we got we were extremely happy and as we had wanted somewhere relaxing, it fitted the bill perfectly.

It's location near yo Gorey is good, transport links excellent and we will definitely come back.

Just returned from a short trip to Jersey with my daughter and granddaughter. We have never been to Jersey before and stayed at the Beachcombers, aware that it is a 3 star hotel, as such it was clean and quiet, the room was reasonably spacious for three of us and serviced daily, the beds were comfortable, the shower was good. The room was a little gloomy but we were only there to sleep so it wasn`t important. We found the staff helpful and pleasant, they dealt with one or two complaints promptly and efficiently and were kind enough to print out our boarding cards for us before we left. The breakfasts were the usual buffet kind, plenty of cereal, fruit etc although the bread was not good being very thin and tasteless, the eggs are better not being described as also the bacon and sausages! The waiting staff were very pleasant and helpful although the restaurant ran out of gluten free bread (my daughter is coeliac) one morning which was not helpful.
The car park is small with a very narrow entrance from the road which could do with being enlarged however we always found a parking space.
My granddaughter enjoyed the pool and there were plenty of comfortable loungers.
Altogether it was a reasonable experience for a 3 star establishment.

Superb little hotel. Anna (the manager ) runs a tight ship. Well organised and efficient. Everywhere very clean - our bedroom (47) was top floor or three but well laid out - nice view over the pool and garden ... spacious and plenty of drawer and wardrobe space.
Excellent food. Breakfast great and evening meal delicious.....

Perfect location with nice walks and Gorey harbour & Castle very close ...
we will return for sure!

Just home from our 4th (or 5th?) stay at this great little hotel. We're local but live on the opposite side of the island so it's always nice to walk the quiet country lanes, coastal paths & beaches near the hotel, before dinner & then again the next day after breakfast. Delicious food, reasonable wine & drink prices, Laura & the kitchen/dining room staff are always friendly & attentive, we always enjoy Chivu's company at the bar & Anna's smiley face & professional manner at the desk. Till next time, thank you all, we'll be back!

Room Tip: 1st floor at the back are quieter

If you are looking for 5 star accomodation and gourmet micro portions then this hotel is not for you. However if it's a friendly, charming and welcoming experience this scores top. Rooms are being refurbished and have a varying standard, but all are roomsly and clean. The staff are helpful and the food is well portioned. (Read the breakfast menu - you can also order things that aren't set out!).
Have holidayed here before in the Summer when the pool came into it's own. Was in use this May too, but not by us.
Thanks to Anna and her staff for an excellent stay and you are forgiven for keeping the Secret of the fly-ins!

I stayed here for 5 days and really wish I could write a 5-star review, but sadly it falls short.

I'll start with the positives: The two receptionists were lovely and always helpful and polite; I found the bed and pillows very comfortable and the room seemed clean. Tea and coffee was also provided and replenished each day.

Onto the negatives:

When I settled into my room, the television was not working and I really just wanted a cup of tea and a bit of tv. I had a nap and went for a walk and it still wasn't fixed a couple of hours later. Finally the barman found a different tv, although this also gave up working this morning.

The shower was awful - I was told it had been fixed after I'd complained, but it was no better. It was probably the worst shower I'd ever had in an accommodation - including in Uganda when a man poured water through the roof!

Additionally, breakfast was incredibly disappointing. Everything appeared to be cheap foods - the bread for toast was wafer thin, the sausages were very cheap tasting and nothing tasted as good as it looked. Even the 'fresh' croissants were greasy and seemed made from sausage roll pastry. Every day I ate less and less until today I just had tea and cereal.

Also, parking was minimal so beware that you may not get a space and there wasn't anywhere else nearby to park.

Finally, the sink in the bathroom was so huge that there was little room to actually sit on the toilet - as someone with long legs, it was almost in my lap and I had to sit at an angle :)

The negatives, despite there being a few, probably wouldn't 100% stop me staying here again, as it was quite a cheap place to stay, but I'd try hard to find an alternative.
