“Excellent Choice of Hotel”
Reviewed 16 July 2009

Travelled with child of 18 months and grandparents, grandparents wanted a hotel and we wanted an apartment with a swimming pool so this hotel was a great choice. Apartments were of a very high standard very clean with easy access to the Hotel. Hotel gardens were well kept and all staff were very friendly. Grandparents stayed on a B&B tariff and were very happy with the breakfast. Hotel is very child friendly. Gorey Harbour about 30 minutes walk lots of places to eat. Jersey pottery’s near Gorey village very nice food and very child friendly with children’s play area. We will book to go again.

On return the children were asking to go again in 2009.

This AA 3* hotel illustrates the gulf between UK hotels and those abroad. There were no big faults but it's the small things that irritate: the curtains which didn't quite meet in the middle, the broken TV remote, the broken window catch.
The bathroom was clean but desperately in need of an update. The wobbly washbasin seemed barely attached to the wall, the loo wasn't even close-coupled and when was that shade of knicker-pink ever considered stylish? There were no tissues or face flannels and the towels had seen better days. After a long time the water from the hot tap went from freezing to boiling instantly. No mixer taps in the wash basin, so be careful.
The meals were good, however, and HUGE.
Breakfast was a help-yourself buffet, plus a cooked option which was freshly prepared and delivered with minimum delay.
Dinner was a large starter, followed by a cream soup, with a substantial main course and a selection of generous desserts.
Especially good value if you take the half-board option.
And the restaurant staff were some of the most efficient I've come across.

Booked a travel package three days before departure, choosing this hotel from a number available. (TripAdvisor reviews helpful.) Room on ground floor opening onto grassed/patio area opposite swimming pool. All facilities as advertised. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfasts substantial with choice of continental or cooked or combination. Lady serving us very professional, remembering what we ordered on our first morning e.g. coffee and hot chocolate waiting on the table by the time we'd got our cereals. Only had one evening meal which we didn't prebook so paid full price - £16.50 - for 'five' courses. Very nice, very filling. Bus stop across the road. A pub in one direction and garage with shop in the other, both only a short walk away. Gorey Village and Gorey Harbour easily in walking distance for a moderately fit person. Beach other side of golf course. Plenty of parking at the hotel. Bit cold first night with no extra bedding in the room but another blanket promptly supplied when requested the next day. Hot bath tap had to be run on full for a few minutes before we got hot at the basin.
