Just back from a 3 night break from this fantastic Hotel it was perfect from the booking to leaving, everything went smoothly. It was a last minute break and I phoned reception who were very friendly knowledgeable and informative about different rooms and rates, nothing more than you would expect but unfortunately seldom get these days. On arrival we were met at the car and asked if we would like a hand with our luggage, check in was good and reception showed us around the dining area, bar, and lounge. First impressions are very important and this Hotel did not disappoint, the views from the dining room were fantastic with full length glass running the entire length and only 2 tables wide everybody had this fantastic view, with gardens dropping down to the swimming pool and further to the rooftops below and then onto St.Aubins harbour and to 180 degrees view of the bay right round to St,Helier Fantastic.
We had a standard sea room which was nicely laid out with large Queen size bed to get lost in and again had the same views that we had experienced in the dining room. We didn't dine in the evenings as there are several very good restaurants to choose from in St. Aubin, but we did have a nightcap on our return, and with the bar area on a raised floor above the dining room it was very pleasant to sit there taking in the view.Again I was well impressed with the attentive and friendly service and I found the bar prices very reasonable indeed.
Breakfasts were very good, there was a buffet style for fruits croissants, and cereals and cold meats etc. and were offered a choice of hot drinks at the table and hot food orders were also taken at the table. There was an excellent choice on the menu and an additional selection which carried a £2.50 supplement which was well worth the extra, and again the staff were not only efficient they were friendly.
Check out was spot on no problems with the bill and courteous again with a help on hand to take luggage to car.
I think Dolan Hotels have done a great job with their staff , there are not many places where staff are as efficient as this but still able to be friendly and to make you feel welcome.

Room Tip: Any sea view, but next time we will go for the bigger room

The hotel was beautiful and the staff made our trip memorable. We celebrated my sister's 30th birthday and they made us a delicious sponge cake. The location was picturesque. Needed more on the menu for vegetarians but the food we did eat was good.

The Somerville Hotel stands above St Aubin on a hill. A steep hill from either end of the road.
The hill is not a problem if you are fit. If you are unfit or older it will be hard going on foot.
I have stayed here around on four times in recent years. The staff ard friendly and the breakfasts are good. The rooms that we have stayed in have all been spotless and comfortable.
We stayed in the recently coverted garden rooms last easter (2013). These are very modern where the hotel its self has an older style.
One of the reasons we stay in St Aubins is that there is a large choice of exelent restaurants in the
village all within walking distance from the hotel. The hotel has its own guest car park whick can get pretty busy at times but I have always managed to get a space.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone thinking of visiting Jersey. It's only ten minutes from St Helier by car, and is a good base for exploring the island from.

Room Tip: Either take one of the garden rooms (3) they have there own private patio area, or take a room on th...

Many thanks for your recent review and for recommending us to future visitors to Jersey. We do indeed enjoy wonderful views across the Bay of St Aubins, just a small price to pay is the small hill however most guests will either have their own cars or take advantage of the excellent car hire rates on the island. Our car park can get very busy due to not only our residents but also the patronage of locals for lunch and dinner however we will always find a space for our residents. Many thanks for recommending out new Garden Suite Rooms, these are indeed very popular with their private terrace, well maintained private garden and lovely views across the bay.

We look forward to the opportunity of welcoming you back to the hotel again soon.

Kind regards

We stayed for 2 nights over the Easter bank holiday. The hotel is well-situated overlooking St Aubin harbour. As one of the larger hotels in St Aubin it has a striking hillside location a few minutes walk uphill from the centre. The room was spacious and clean with a large comfortable bed and an excellent view. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful though we found some of the restaurant staff to be less so. We arrived around one hour before the check-in time but this wasn't a problem at all and we were shown straight to our room. Breakfast was delayed by 30 minutes one morning as our order had been lost. The lack of apology was more irritating than the delay. We had planned to eat in the hotel "Tides" restaurant but decided not to after this experience. The hotel has a lovely terraced garden and outdoor pool and several lounge areas to relax. The journey from the airport takes around 20 minutes by taxi (£10) or you can take the regular Liberty bus, which stops around a 5 to 10 minute walk away from the hotel.

Room Tip: Upgrade your room if possible.

Many thanks for your feedback following your recent stay with us. I'm delighted that most aspects of your stay were to your satisfaction however I was sorry to read about the lost restaurant docket for your breakfast order and for the lack of apology for the delay with your breakfast. Whilst somewhat belated, may I offer my apologies now for this and hope that despite this that we will have the pleasure of welcoming you back to the hotel when I hope that you will enjoy the lovely food and views across the bay over dinner.

This was our second short break visit to the Somerville Hotel. Nothing has changed which is just how we wanted things to be. The staff are pleasant, attentive and welcoming. This is a traditional hotel and service is how it should in the hospitality industry. If only other hotels were like the Somerville, it's not always about having the latest gadgets. Hospitality is about how the staff and management treat their visitors! Congratulations to everyone who works at this hotel.

Room Tip: You must book a sea view room

The staff are excellent, very attentive and efficient. The food was first class as was the service. Excellent value and choice. The restaurant has a brilliant panoramic view across the bay towards St Helier. The rooms are comfortable and quiet, some of the back of house communal areas look a little tired.

Well kept gardens and a small outdoor pool. There are lots of good restaurants within walking distance.

Absolutely fabulous location, with incredible views over the bay. The hotel offered us a warmth of hospitality and charm, and staff were at all times attentive and friendly. Our room although the least expensive was extremely comfortable, with lovely furnishings and very clean.
