Reviewed 5 October 2013

Stayed for a week in a ground floor double with a sea view at the end of the summer season. Great view over St Aubin's bay from the hotel and room although better to get a 1st or 2nd floor room - no direct access to the pool from the ground floor room. Restaurant and bar did suitable food for a hotel but the breakfast buffet is basic, not as well prepared as the evening meals we had and needed more topping up. Overall standards of room fitting and cleanliness was good although our double bed was a twin joined together which means you can feel where they join. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Hotel laid on some evening events like a BBQ and meet the staff drinks which seemed a nice personal touch to the hotel stay. Car parking was fine with an overflow at the back which did allow access into the back of the hotel. Location means a car is best if you want to eat out in the evenings. However it did allow good access out to the rest of the island. I will stay there again if I return on holiday.

Room Tip: Go for a sea view on the 1st floor (one up from the pool level) or higher for best views.

I love this hotel, rooms are very nicely appointed and bathrooms very modern, lovely sea view balconies on all rooms and the best part is the staff - every single person seemed to be genuinely interested in getting everything to our liking and helping us out, even to the extent of waiting by my car door with an umbrella when I came into the car park in torrential rain. Beds were really comfortable, everything spotlessly clean and the service first class.
I can't give it 5 stars because the 'restaurant' isn't very good, the chairs not very comfortable and the food only passable (although the bar food and the buffet breakfast are great and the bar area is comfortable and cosy). There's no reason the kitchen can't improve on this, if they can do good bar food that comes from the same kitchen. Also in September the restaurant can get very cold and draughty from the huge doors to the patio that are constantly being opened - not a problem in midsummer though I'm sure! If you stay here, eat out for full meals, the island is full of really good restaurants anyway you wouldn't want to waste your stay eating in just one however good it was, so it isn't a major issue. It wouldn't prevent me from staying here again.
Be warned of something the hotel can't fix and is a consequence of the superb view; the access to the hotel drive is via a 180 degree turn off a steep hill and the drive has a sheer drop on one side, then the car park is tiny. Not recommended for nervous drivers in hire cars!

Room Tip: When you check in ask if there is a group party booked any evening with disco, if so ask for a room...

Dear Jackie S,

Thank you so much for taking the time to post such an informative review, I am extremely pleased that you enjoyed the hotel and the team. We do try hard to ensure everything is to your liking and it's nice to know it's appreciated.

Thank you for your comments regarding the food, an issue I can address with the chef immediately.

With reference to your last comment and mainly for future visitors/readers I will just clarify a couple of points.

The best way to approach the Hotel Cristina is by coming down Mont Felard - there is a map and directions on our website.

The sheer drop on one side of our driveway is completely protected by bollards whilst preventative maintenance work is taking place to the bank adjacent to our entrance.

We have two car parks, the front car park has 22 spaces and the rear car park has at least 30 more spaces available.

Back to your review. Thank you for taking the time to post it and thank you for your constructive feedback. I very much look forward to welcoming you back to the Cristina in the near future.

Kind regards

The Hotel Cristina was very clean and tidy. The staff were very pleasent and accomodating.
The food however was very dissapointing and a lot of the time there was no one to serve at the bar. Also be careful not to book your holiday when the hotel has a wedding because guests at the hotel are expected to have their meals at the bar and not the resteraunt. And the heated pool is not very warm.

Dear craigy246.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review and for sharing your views. I'm extremely pleased that you found the team members pleasant and accomodating (the difficult part to get right) but less pleased that you found the food disappointing. I am looking to make immediate improvements in this area. Our swimming pool is heated to 25 degrees although the air temperature can affect this slightly.

I look forward to the opportunity to welcome you back to the Cristina so that you can witness the improvements made.

Thanks again for posting a review.

Lovely hotel, excellent food very well presented, friendly and efficient staff, great service - nothing was too much trouble. Not the cheapest we've stayed in but worth it, and the view over the bay could keep you watching all day.

Room Tip: Go for a 10- or a 30- room as the 20- rooms have large patio doors, and no window that can safely be...

This was our first visit to Jersey but it will certainly not be our last and we will definitely be staying at the Cristina again. From start to finish our experience was wonderful. The staff were helpful and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We stayed on a b&b basis and found there was ample choice of breakfast items on the buffet and extra toast and drinks were offered every day. We had lunch on the terrace and this too was of an excellent standard. The room was clean and very comfortable with a view to die for overlooking the pool and st aubin's bay. We look forward to returning.

The Hotel Christina is a very clean and has excellent service rooms are good we had a fabulous view of the sea. On arrival there was a mix up with our sleeping arrangements which was very quickly and efficiency dealt with.
The only thing that was not not so good was the food our evening meals were a night mare although we booked on a bed and breakfast basis it means you have to drive because of where the hotel is situated.
Go for the bar meals better value and then you don't mind paying so much for microwave meals and DON'T go on the breakfast menu meals l had eggs Benedict it was dreadful with uncooked muffin and all most raw egg.

Dear Carol F,

Thank you for taking the time to post a review, always appreciated. I'm very pleased about the good bits - cleanliness, views and lovely, friendly team members. Obviously I'm not so pleased about your food comments and can only apologise that you found the restaurant meals below par. I would like to point out though that all meals are freshly cooked to order and are certainly not microwave meals.

I look forward to welcoming you back in the near future when I'm sure improvements to our food offering would have been made.

Thanks once again for posting a review.

We had stayed at another hotel in this group the year before and found it perfectly OK so thought we would try here as a change. The hotel is clean and tidy, the staff were most friendly and very helpful. Rooms were adequate, views were spectacular over the bay. Food was OK. I will quantify the food comment. There are many very special places to eat out on Jersey so for a hotel to compete is very difficult. The Cristina managed to do a reasonable job with the food in line with most other hotels of this sort and certainly better than some others we have been to. So a mid range hotel with plenty going for it and no major faults. The restaurant has wonderful views, the bar and terrace are excellent and the best food we had there was from the bar menu. The smoked salmon sandwiches were excellent.

Overall a decent hotel well prepared for dealing with customers with some good staff on hand. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a mid range place to stay with no hassle.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a room with a view over the bay and preferably not one on the ground floor next to...
