The La Haule Manor is one of those really nice hotels that you visit now and again that manages not to feel like a hotel at all. The rooms are so pretty that i actually wanted to go home and decorate my room like it, everything felt so cosy and warm. you actually do feel like your just staying in someone's really nice home!! The beds are super soft, to me this is a disadvantage as i suffer from neck and back problems so i end up waking up really cranky but if it wasn't for that i am sure i would sleep really well as you just melt into the mattresses. Tea and coffee facilities are offered in the rooms by way of a small tray. i was disappointed not to have seen a safe in my rooms as i like to be able to lock my valuables away. The bathroom was very good, our room had a shower but no bath, i wasn't overly bothered but my partner didn't like that, im not sure what the other rooms have. On arrival we were offered tea or coffee while are bags were put in our room this is a simple but very much over looked gesture by many hotels and was very much welcomed by us after getting lost (not sure how) in the rain whilst driving to the hotel from the port. Downstairs there is also a bar with snooker table large screen tv etc we visited on our last night there, drinks are expensive there but there are so many nice places to eat and drink in the island i cant imagine many people use it. opposite the breakfast room when you come in is a small lounge which again was very tastefully decorated. Providing lots of useful leaflets and information on the island. Breakfast is served 8am - 9:30 and the ladies at breakfast are ever so good straight away asking if you want tea or coffee then coming back for a cooked breakfast order if you wish. There is the usual mix of continental and english options for breakfast nothing to stand out from any other hotel but still of a very good quality.
the hotel is located very well straight along the main road form st hellier (again not sure how we got lost its so easy to find) with a fantastic outlook (even in the rain of the 1st 2 days we were there). A bit of advice the car park behind the hotel has a very very narrow entrance we had a ford focus as our hire car and with that had to be very wary of getting in to the car park so be careful if your bringing your own car especially if its on the larger size.
We ate out 2 of the 3 nights at the Old Courthouse in St Aubins as we liked it so much, and 1 night at the Boathouse which i thought was just a confused gastro pub. St aubins is only a 5 mins walk along the front from the hotel so again another real plus for this hotel and its location. St Aubins is a lovely little fishing village and i think out of the many we saw on the island my favorite. I dint go a great deal on St Helier it was to much of a modern city, i was expecting it to be a little lower key. We visited most of the attractions, Durrell Zoo (my favorite), the wine estate (defiantly eat in there restaurant the food is fantastic), Jersey war tunnels, Gorey castle (one of best castle i have ever visited) the list goes on.
Overall a real gem of a hotel to stay in on Jersey i would recommend it to anyone, if anything i may want to slant to call it a 5 star b&b rather then a hotel.
