As this was our second visit to Jersey & St. Aubin , our hopes were high for this holiday as the first time was so nice there .
Having booked the B&B through a booking website , we arrived on the first day to be met be a polish (?) girl on the door . The room we were given was at the very top of the building . Room 2 it was . Inside the room it was as i'd pretty much expected other people had described . Very old fashioned and worn out basically , from the carpet / curtains to the antique shower !
Having settled in we went out for the evening to return about 2300 . Only to be woken shortly after by very, very noisy footsteps stomping around the room above , doors being shut loudly and mobile phones /tv 's making noise .
We brushed this off , and got to sleep , only to have more of this at 0600 to wake us up on the monday morning . Great ! !
Breakfast was acceptable . Very regimented , very tight for room at tables , and very fast . You had to be down there and eaten betwen 0815-0900 , choice was limited , and the whole process had no personnel touch at all from the foreign workers who dealt with you .
So , off out for day , back at 1600 approx for feet up before evening out , only to have our peace broken by the same noises from above us and loud voices , using mobiles on speaker phone ! Not happy !
Brushed it off and went out to return at about 2300 again . Noises yet again from above until early hours . Woken again on tues morning by the same at roughly 0600 .
Very unhappy at this point , so at breakfast we made it known about this to the foreign waiter, who told us there was no rooms to move to .
Off out for day again , tired now due to bad sleeping through noise above . Returned at about 1500 to rest for evening , and what a surprise more noise !!!!
This was the final straw , so we went out and found some other accomodation quickly.
Very thankfully , we found some for the rest of our stay .
We returned and packed our stuff , and went to the front door to check out .
The member of staff asked us why we wanted to leave , and we explained the noise . He said that he that he could find another room , which had just appeared vacant !!! This was not acceptable , and after him making phonecalls to his boss , and us being adamant we wanted to leave . We settled the bill , for which we had to pay for that day even though it was only mid afternoon , and the room could have been re- rented . Gathered our baggage and made our way to our new venue .

On the whole , this spoilt our stay completely . I find there is nothing worse than noise , sleep disorder on holiday .
The rooms at the top of the B&B (1&2) should not be used to rent to public unless the owners tame the noisey inhabitants above , unless they are not part of the establishment and are private in some way to the b&b , then its not good .

The whole building and room is very old fashioned , and needs a make over.
The rooms need new carpet ,curtains, duvets , linen & furniture .
The bathroom would only need a new £60 shower and tray fitted and a coat of paint to make it look new . But at the moment the shower looks like and works like an antique .

The staff although trying to be helpful , need training on making you more welcome , and the breakfast times extending so not so regimented and short .

To summarise , this place is a budget b&b nothing more , but could be a gem !

The hotel we moved to matched the b&b price , and was a different world in terms of room quality , service and hospitality !

You get what you pay for , and i'm never going cheap again !

St Aubin is an excellent base to explore Jersey. 10 minutes drive from Airport and directly on the bus route from Airport to St.Helier. St Magloire is a little tired and needs re-furnishing but it is not a five star hotel and is better than other b&b's I have stayed in. I was disappointed at first but once settled in I felt it was a good choice. We had room no.10 and it was spacious with direct access onto the terrace which looked out to sea. The bathroom was adequate and there were tea & coffee making facilities in the room. Very Quiet at night and very comfortable beds. The staff only visible in the mornings but were efficient and curtious, we were given a front door key so we could come and go even if no staff were about. It you want 5 star luxury this is not for you but if you want a pleasant reasonablly priced base from which to explore then go for it!

The location of the St Magloire is perfect and picturesque, I returned to St Magloire for my hen night with 7 friends, everyone loved the guest house and many will be returning to St Magloire late in the year, I have stayed in three of the spacious rooms, the beds are very comfortable, good hot showers, great English breakfast, copious amounts of toast and cereals. David can't do enough for you, he booked in our flights for our return journey and left our boarding passes in one of the rooms whilst we were out taking a bus tour around the island. I have just booked again for the beginning of September.

Pleasant b&b with friendly staff. Our room was a double on the first floor. The bed linen and towels were quite old and well used (bobbled sheets & grey towels). Furniture in room is dated, but the bed, although very soft, was comfortable. Bathroom very tired looking with old shower. Fan in bathroom blocked with dust & dirt, so not very hygienic. Breakfast was okay, not much choice. Not very well insulated - could hear things going on in rooms above & next to ours. Narrow stairways, no help available for luggage. Cracked cups in room.

St Magloire is situated on a lovely cobbled street - but quite a steep climb from the main road for me, as I have a bad back. Close to amenities & bus stop.
