“Fantastic Hotel”
Reviewed 31 August 2014

In early August we had our first family holiday to Jersey and had a fabulous stay at Hotel La Place. We initially booked standard rooms and sent an email to the hotel asking for the rooms to be next to each other if possible, we had a very quick response from Margriet offering us poolside rooms with interconnecting doors which we happily upgraded to. On arrival we were greeted by a very friendly member of staff and offered a complimentary glass of bubbly and orange juice for our teenage daughters, whilst we enjoyed these sitting by the pool area our luggage was taken to our rooms. We stayed in rooms 105a & 105b which were beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean with very comfortable beds and furnishings, the bathrooms were very modern one room had a bath with overhead shower and the other had a large walk-in shower, again spotlessly clean! Choice and quality of food at breakfast and evening meals was excellent, staff very polite and friendly - nothing was too much trouble. Overall we had a wonderful stay here, would highly recommend this hotel as an ideal base to explore the island and enjoy a peaceful, relaxing holiday. We will definitely be returning to this hotel on our next holiday to Jersey.

We stayed here for my boyfriend birthday. We were welcomed with a complementary drink in the beautiful relaxing bar. The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We had a lovely stay, rooms were massive and a great breakfast. Only wished we'd stayed longer :)

This was a return visit after spending a few days here last summer (see my previous review for additional location details etc). This time we went as a family for a longer period and never regretted a moment. The staff were as friendly and helpful as before and and our room like last year overlooked the outside heated leisure pool. The hotel gives every appearance of being properly maintained, clean and well decorated. The hotel offers a truly great start to the day with all the essential components for an excellent breakfast with a choice from cereals, fruit, yoghurt, mini pastries and the option of a cooked meal to order which included a very 'full English' and fish options of haddock and kippers.

As the weather was good for us while we were there we shunned the tedious round of visits to the beach and the sights and spent most of our time playing in the pool or enjoying the sun poolside while we played board or card games, ordering drinks and snacks as required until we departed to prepare for our evening meal. We took our evening meals at the hotel on a few occasions - one was in the restaurant as we wanted a traditional Sunday roast which was fine meal of roast beef with all the trimmings and twice in the bar when we had various meals that encompassed burger and chips, mixed seafood linguini, Jersey seafood salad, haddock and chips and bolognaise from the children's menu - all competitively priced I might add.

One point I would adversely comment on was the bed that was put up for a child in our room seemed too springy and noisy to the extent that it frequently disturbed our sleep whenever she moved.

I cannot rate this hotel too highly - it's location and ambiance suits us and we are already planning a return for 2015.

Customer Tip: eating dinner in the hotel saves the trip down the steep hill under your own steam or by taxi into St.Aubin or further afield to find a place to dine. You can take a decent walk along the level lanes around the hotel to finish off your evening.

This was our first trip to Jersey & the La Place Hotel & both did NOT disappoint. We had one of the deluxe bedrooms, this was one of the best bedrooms/bathrooms we have stayed in.(Rm 207) It was spacious, comfortable, clean, well decorated, enormous bathroom with bath & walk in shower. Well worth paying that bit extra for. We were on half board & both the breakfast's & evening meals were first class. Breakfast was one of the best, so much choice, cold or hot & good quality. The dinner's were of the same high quality, wonderfully presented & cooked to perfection everytime. The staff in the restaurant, on the desk & the cleaners, were ALL first class. They were always helpful & nothing was to much trouble.
We can not praise this hotel highly enough, if you are coming to Jersey, you HAVE to stay at La Place, it's 5 star all round. Many thanks La Place for making our weeks stay so wonderful - we WILL be back.

Room Tip: All the rooms have been refurbished to a high standard.

This was our 5th stay at La Place. It has always been superb but this year was even better with refurbished rooms. The food was excellent with plenty of choice and nothing was too much bother for the staff who all provided a first class service. Must mention in particular the two head waiters who were the icing on the cake. We have booked for next year.

The deluxe bedrooms are spacious, comfortable and beautifully decorated. The bed was enormous, and as with La Haule Manor (the sister hotel where we stayed last year) the sheets were of a luxurious standard, and a joy to sleep in. Breakfast consisted of a vast array of pastries, fruit, Jersey yoghurts, bread, cheeses, plus hot options cooked to order. We chose to eat in the restaurant on our last evening. Hotel food is often disappointing, but all six of us enjoyed an excellent meal, and the most fabulous bread-and-butter pudding with Jersey ice-cream. Service throughout our stay was of a 5 star standard - the dining staff were particularly friendly, attentive and professional. All in all, we didn't want to leave.

Room Tip: Its worth spending a bit more on a superior or deluxe room - our deluxe bathroom was fabulous, with...

I took my partner last weekend for a surprise trip for her birthday and were joined in Jersey by family and friends. Our room was extremely comfortable and large with a great bathroom, could not fault the room. We ate as a party in the restaurant on one night and the food was very good indeed with great service and a good atmosphere. Breakfast was taken on the patio and again was good and well cooked. A great base in a quiet location, the only reason it does not get 5 stars is due to our room, 203, being above the entrance and us being woken on Saturday morning at 1am, 2am and 7am by loud guests returning/departing with no consideration for others.

Room Tip: avoid room above entrance
