Just returned from L`Horizon. Thoroughly enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere of Jersey. Excellent Concierge staff who were really helpful. We booked a deluxe double sea view room, whilst the room was beautifully furnished, the bedroom was really small and felt almost claustrophobic. We were paying £230 per night, dinner bed and breakfast, so not cheap. The toiletries in the bathroom were really poor for the standard of the Hotel. The food in all restaurants was really good, drinks in the bar really expensive £10.50 for 2 vodka tonics.
The spa itself was really dated but the therapists were good.
We hired a car which was a must if you wanted to get around Jersey and see the whole Island. Lots of lovely pubs around for lunch and everyone was really friendly wherever we went.
Would I go back again, yes, definitely.

Bit of a delay in writing this but went to L'Horizon for my 40th birthday. What a fantastic hotel, couldn't fault it. We had a room overlooking the beach and it was lovely.
Can't fault it and one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in (and we have stayed in lots of good quality expensive hotels).

Having paid the same per night B & B as we'd paid for 4 nights at The Merton in St Helier, I expected pretty near perfection but was sadly disappointed. The room, whilst nicely decorated, was tiny for what was described as a superior deluxe. The service and quality of food in the restaurants at both breakfast and dinner was poor with waiters forgetting to bring various things we'd ordered, or the wrong things, and a constant sense of confusion and staff rushing about with managers looking panicked most of the time. The management team could do with spending a few nights at The Merton to look at their customer service in all departments. The spa jacuzzi was out of order for the length of our stay.

+ High standard of room furnishing
+ Great location just a few meters from the beach
+ Balcony very worthwhile
+ Wide choice for breakfast, one of the best I have seen
+ Free internet and printer so you can check in online
+ Helpful staff
+ Bus stop outside hotel takes you into St Helier

It is hard to think of anything to criticize because this is one of the best hotels I have stayed in. It isn't a budget option. Evening meal in the restaurant is about £33 per head but Pizza Express just up the road is half the price.

  • Liked — The balcony room with a view is fantastic
  • Disliked — Evening meal a bit too expensive for us

We stayed here because another choice was full but actually prefered it in many ways. I knew that L'Horizon was a good hotel but had always assumed that it wouldn't be as child-friendly as some of the others as it is used by a lot of business people. However, the staff were all totally charming with the children who very much enjoyed the indoor pool (useful this summer!), meals and the DVDs and Playstation. The half-board plan here is wonderfully flexible, offering a credit against any food in any restaurant. The food itself was very good too, we particularly enjoyed the steak and fish which were cooked simply and perfectly. The only tiny complaint I can think of was that the hotel has recently been refurbished at great expense but they must have stopped before getting to the very long ground floor corridor to our rooms which was dark and musty. Apart from that everything was pretty much perfect.

  • Liked — Location, staff, room, food, internet access
  • Disliked — Long, dark ground floor corridor (but that's a fairly small complaint)

It's the 1st time I'd been to Jersey and I was far from dissapointed..
On entering L'Horizon it immediately gave the impression of my money being well spent. The staff made a great effort to be helpful and were very welcoming, pointing out the varied menus on arrival.
The room lived up to expectations, immaculately clean and fresh smelling, a fridge with fresh milk and mineral water, Plasma tv - ideal for early Olympics viewing, DVD player, microwave, etc., etc.
Individually, the multi-national staff made you feel very welcome, were thoroughly professional, helpful, well trained and were extremely courteous at all times, ranging from room service thru' management and are a credit to the Hotel. The piano players created the perfect atmosphere in the Cocktail Bar. The brilliant Royal Yacht Club was only a £12 taxi fare away in St. Helier if a heaving Nightclub with 6 bars is your thing. The Scots' Grill chef on the Terrace (directly overllooking the Beach) cooked a variety of fresh food exactly to order, always served with a smile by the excellent waitresses. The full English breakfast negated the need to eat until evening! The Beach was wonderful for families or couples, kept clean with an abundance of facilities available for hire. Excellent for swimming, canoeing, early morning surfing, running, or just walking.
I had a very happy stay there meeting some very interesting people including the author Jack Higgins re. "The Eagle has Landed"
I fully intend to return as soon as I get the chance thanks to the staff who made the stay very pleasant.

We spent 3 nights at this hotel whit week. Some areas were excellent for instance the views, the room and the terrace which overlooks St Brelades Bay where you could enjoy a lovely drink or meal - weather permitting! We were disappointed with the service and lack of attention to detail. For instance the pool area which we passed frequently to find the lift to our room was not cleared regularly. One day sandwiches were there from lunch time through to the evening - yuk! The same happened outside the rooms where room service trays were left all day. The restaurant was expensive which we do not mind if the food is good, however it was nothing special and the service was not great. We had hoped that this would become a short hop destination that we fell in love with however that was not the case - it did not tick all the boxes for us. All said it is probably the best beach located hotel on the island from our trip around and you could do much worse. If you do come here book yourself a meal in Zanzibar restaurant - looks nothing from the outside but was great!

  • Liked — The location - beautiful beach and sea view
  • Disliked — Trays not cleared away - lack of attention and care
