One thing that hits you straight away is the friendliness of all the staff. Nothing was too mush trouble for any of them. Within minutes of arrival I had made two requests: an extra chair in the room being one. Before we had returned from emptying the car, the chair was in place. Because of illness, my wife has a fairly specialised diet at present. This was never a problem, with any request being sympathetically met.
Our room had a lovely balcony and the most amazing view over a beautiful bay. The supplement for a sea view was well worth the extra. To draw back the curtains in the morning and to be met with such a view was enchanting. Our room was on the top floor which maximised the view. The room was in excellent order, well equipped and absolutely spotless. My wife travels everywhere with antiseptic wipes, but they were never unpacked!
The dining room has the most amazing view over the bay. Breakfast was excellent and freshly cooked to order. Dinner was also superb with enough choice to keep most people happy.. We had booked just bed and breakfast, but after dinner on the first night, we decided to eat in the hotel every night. We thought the table d'hote menu of £19.00 was excellent value. Imagine our delight when we came to pay the bill to discover that, as we had eaten there every night, the management had actually charged us the half-board supplement of just under £10.00 per night. We were impressed by many such considerate actions.
The pool was attractive and well maintained, though we did not swim. The grounds were also immaculate with plenty of areas to sit and relax. The position of the hotel, at the top of the hill makes it an unlikely choice for families with small children as there are many hotels in St Brelade's right on the beach. The result is that the hotel is quiet and restful. We sat in the sun and relaxed. If you come without a car , it is quite a trek up from the beach; but the hotel is well served by a bus route which passes just behind the hotel. There is also a bus route from the beach area.
We are already planning our next visit to The Windmills.

Hotel had stunning views, unfortunately the management and food was lacking. The breakfast was served luke warm at best the eggs were undercooked! We did not eat at the Hotel again! On receiving a feedback sheet from the management on our final evening we added the above comments and handed it in. On checking out no comment was passed about our feedback sheet and we were not even asked if we had a nice stay! The staff were functional but not particular welcoming. It was warm whilst we were there and having a suite on the ground floor meant we couldn't leave the windows open, there was also no fan.

Room Tip: Don't book one on the ground floor.

Having stayed at The Windmills over the Easter break I have to say I would recommend it to family and friends who were looking for bargain accomodation.
As we arrived at the hotel the exterior did make me worry slightly as it does look quite drab and in need of a lick of paint. Once inside however my doubts faded as the Reception, Bar and Lounge area were lovely with great views down over St Brelade's bay. We opted to go for one of the self catering apartments within the hotel (the first time I have chosen this option when visiting Jersey), the apartment was spacious and cleaned to a very high standard, flat screen TV in the lounge and we had a great view of the pool and bay. The Kitchen was spacious with a nice breakfast bar and all utensils at our disposal, the housekeeping team even washed our dirty pots which was fabulous! Again the only down side is the decor of the bedrooms, slightly drab, but kept very clean and beds very comfy. We had a meal one evening in the restaurant which was reasonably priced at £20 pp for 3 courses, the food was nice and filling and we didn't have to wait long between courses, staff very attentive. Again only a slight niggle but there was no music playing or sense of atmosphere, and as it wasn't very full you felt like you were talking to the whole room when making conversation.
On a positive note there was use of free Wi-fi, board games and books which was a nice touch and the surrounding area was quiet which made it nice to sunbathe in peace, the pool area itself was clean and wouldn't look out of place at a Spanish villa.
Overall a friendly, comfortable hotel situated in an ideal location if you're a fan of St Brelade's like me!

very enjoyable stay at this hotel, the view from the bedroom was very nice, well worth paying the extra for a sea view with balcony, it was for our wedding anniversary! Brother and sister in law had a standard double, with no view not as nice but ok, the walk down to St Brelades was nice, but the hill back was not so nice! but we did know about that before booking, was not a real issue. The breakfast was very nice, the only one slight issue was the prices at the bar, did feel that they were a bit on the high side, but it was nice to chill out after being out for dinner and have a drink with a very nice view. Would stay again at this hotel. The staff and very friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: book a sea view - well worth paying the extra!

This must be the best value hotel in Jersey. The 3* rating reflects the standard of the amenities, but the rooms are clean, comfortable and well equipped. The food, from a limited menu, is consistently good. If your idea of a good dish is a tiny artwork containing 14 ingredients and a white tomato foam, don't eat here. However, if, like me, you prefer good fresh ingredients sensitively cooked without over-elaboration, you'll love it. The wine list, while small, is well-considered and great value. Staff are friendly and welcoming without being intrusive, but above all the location, perched atop St Brelade's bay, is absolutely stunning. Pay the extra to stay in a room with sea-view and balcony- you won't regret it. We stayed 3 nights and brought our bicycles so we could tour around Jersey's network of dedicated cycle paths and cycle-friendly 15mph green lanes. We were fortunate with the weather, and the hedgerows at this time of year are a profusion of wild flowers in vivid colours: truly beautiful, but best viewed by bicycle or on foot. Leave the car behind. Jersey is 9 miles by 5, so most tourist attractions can easily be reached by bike as long as you are moderately fit. If you don't want to bring your own, bikes can be hired from St Aubin's at the start of the railway path, or from the Swedish Consulate in St Helier (seriously! - Zebra bikes) and there are 2 bike shops near the Sand St Car park in St Helier. Must sees are Durrell Wildlife Foundation, Mont Orgeuil Castle,Gorey Harbour, Elizabeth Castle and La Mare Wine Estate. Overall a wonderfully relaxing and enjoyable short break. We plan to come back for a week in September.

Spent a superb 3 nights for our 30th Wedding Anniversary 18th April 2011. Opening weekend for the season but everything was wonderful. Jane and Greg made us so welcome and were able to help out with any enquiries. Their hospitality amazing. We had a lovely sea view suite - the view when you walked into the room was fantastic and every time you looked out of the huge patio window it was awesome. Blue sea and sky and views down to St Brelades Bay. Evening meal and breakfast were exceptional and service by a lovely husband and wife team so special in a friendly and very professional way. We were lucky enough to have fantastic weather and after our long morning out and about in Jersey seeing lots of sights we spent the afternoon sunbathing by the pool. Highly recommend their afternoon tea. This was our first visit to Jersey and definitely will not be our last and we will certainly come back to The Windmills.

Room Tip: Definitely go for a sea view room.

I say gamble as we have visited Jersey many times, and have always stayed in St Helier - this time, we decided to stay venture out of the capital.

We discovered this hotel whilst browsing the internet and feel in love with the location, views and the reasonable prices...so we booked online, which was easy and efficient.

Everything about the hotel is first class, the welcome, the staff, the atmosphere, the food, the rooms and the view.

We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay, and we will definately be staying here again soon. If you're thinking of holidaying in Jersey, then this hotel is a must!
