I have been holidaying regularly (at least every two years) with my wife and family at the Biarritz since 1986. My daughters now have families of their own and we are looking forward to another fantastic family holiday this August. The Biarritz has always been a good hotel but it is one of very few that makes a point of improving its facilities and service every single year. If you want a great location (steps straight down to the best beach in Jersey), good food, accomodation and service then look no further than this Hotel. What makes it really special though is its unique brand of Christian hospitality. You need never fear of being alone (unless you want to be of course!) - it's the people you meet at the Biarritz that provide the fun and fellowship that you just dont get at an "ordinary" hotel. The quirkyness of traditions handed down over the years (such as the ritual reading out of the vast "sweet-course" menu at evening meal - which we all share together) help to make this a holiday that you'll always remember - and, like us, always want to repeat regularly in spite of the pull of ever more exotic destinations! In the commercial world where I spend my working days they always say that "repeat business" is THE sign of a truly great and successful organisation - I know of no other hotel that has better repeat business than the Biarritz and, as such, I unreservedly recommend it to you.

This was my tenth consecutive year, then NZ in 2009 and now booked for 2010.
I am a very happy and delighted customer who is happy to return for the 12th time to a friendly hotel committed to good service, good cooking and all things to make the customer feel valued. My first visit was with my parents, then I began to travel alone and keep returning: I love it at the Biarritz Hotel, St. Brelade's Bay, Jersey. Guaranteed good food, fun, friends and fellowship with manager and staff eager to please. I am happy to recommend the hotel to anyone. The hotel's position is perfect and Jersey is a real treasure. One of my favourite rooms permits me to watch the red squirrels in a nearby wood. I enjoy the sea view from the dining room, sun terrace or lounge. The walkthrough the gardens down to the beach is good exercise and offers a glorious view of a beautiful bay with lizards and rabbits basking in the sun and butterflies flitting between the flowers. The whole experience is just idyllic.

We cannot speak highly enough of The Biarritz Hotel. Having stayed at another hotel in Jersey for many years, we were very disappointed when that closed. However, we were delighted to discover The Biarritz and have returned there several times since and have found it to be excellent in every respect on each occasion.

As soon as you enter the hotel you are made to feel welcome, not only by the reception staff, but also by the manager, Duncan, and his family. The hotel is perfectly located overlooking St Brelades Bay, Jersey's finest beach. The views from the rooms with sea views would be hard to beat anywhere in the world. The rooms are modern, spacious and comfortable and always kept scrupulously clean by the chamber maids. The ensuite bathrooms are spotlessly clean and finished to a high standard.

The food is excellent with a wide choice, including a separate children's option. Each course is beautifully presented with options to suit varying tastes. The highlight of every dinner has to be the desserts. Not only is there an extensive choice, different every evening, but each individual dessert is delicious. The only problem is choosing which one to have! Although there is no bar, you are encouraged to bring your own bottle of wine, something my husband did every night, which is refrigerated and served to you at the table - and there is no corkage charge!

Every evening some kind of entertainment or activity is offered - films, quizzes, guest speakers and children's competitions. There was always something for the members of our family to do, or else we simply relaxed in the lounge near the coffee shop. For younger children there is often an activity organised during the morning such as sandcastle competitions.

Although The Biarritz is a Christian hotel, this is not imposed on you, and as a guest you do not feel out of place if you are not a Christian.

Overall The Biarritz is a wonderful well managed hotel set in a stunning location, with friendly, efficient staff, comfortable rooms and a warm welcoming atmosphere.

Spent a week at this hotel and have delayed writing a report as, due to all the positive reviews, we thought it was us being too fussy. However, this was our experience. We arrived early afternoon and were met at check-in by a friendly receptionist. Good start.
After unpacking we decided to have a snack lunch and a drink. The cafe inside the hotel though was closed, only open at certain times of day, so we had to find somewhere outside. The only way to access the shops, cafes etc is either by way of walking down a slope and steps to the prom, not too bad going down but quite a climb coming back if you are less than able. Or to walk on the main road, which is quite busy with no pavement.

With regard to the Dining Room. We were surprised to have to share a table with two other guests as this is something we have never experienced on any previous holidays. As luck would have it though they were lovely people and we got on fine but I dread to think what would have happened it this had not been the case. Now to the food; certainly not what we would class as restaurant food. Quite basic and the many of the sweets appeared to be defrosted from frozen. The buffet, however, served twice a week was good.

Our room had a lovely view, but we found the beds and pillows very uncomfortable and the bedlinen was certainly not up to standard - thin and "scratchy". Very basic toiletries were supplied in the bathroom and, for the price paid, we certainly expected to have more, especially some shampoo which we had to go out and buy.

Overall, not what we expected. The views are superb but we felt the hotel was not to the standard we have come to expect for the price paid. Jersey is a wonderful place to visit, especially this area, but we would not return to this hotel.

My wife and I and our two children have been coming to The Biarritz regularly since 2000. We were instantly in love with the gentle Christian-based ambience, the wonderful staff, incredible position overlooking St. Brelade's Bay (probably the best on the Island) and have watched with ever inceasing amazment the current General Manager's gradual refurbishment projects, which have transformed the Hotel from nice, but perhaps run-of-the-mill, to a fine, modern, comfortable establishment. At the same time, the improvements have remained true to the Hotel's Christian ethos, and to its Methodist heritage, by resisting the temptation to introduce a bar and turn The Biarritz into a licensed premises. The absence of a bar is one of the reasons why The Biarritz is such a safe haven for families and why so many, like us, return year after year. We thought that after almost 10 years of visting The Biarritz, it was about time we described its virtues for those looking for a wonderful relaxing holiday in Jersey!
